cooling fan problem?

i've tried to search my problem here but found nothing related...

i've read that our cooling fan operate at two speeds (low and high). but ever since i got my r53 in 2004, it seems to be operating only at low speed... and never did it turn on when my engine's off (i've read that sometimes it turns on to cool the engine)... we are in a tropical country btw. any problem with my cooling fan?

Your fan shouldn't come on with the engine off unless you did some hard driving then immediately shut down. It's only happened to me once and that was when I had air in the system after changing my coolant. As for low/high, it's hard to explain. When it's on high, it's very easy to hear. Low speed usually comes on a couple seconds after you click the A/C on.

My 03 Cooper rarely comes on even after shutting it down after spirited motoring. It does come on when the A/C is running.

It did come on high when coolant dumped when the block heater failed, not an issue for you as you live in a warm climate. It sounds like a jet engine when it does come on high
