Some Weird Smell

Hi guyz,

Just want to ask did anyone encounter any weird smell like burning when you accelerate hard on your MCS?

How many miles on your car? I had a funky plasticky burning smell for the first few months after taking delivery, but it went away. My wife's MINI was the same way.

not to scare you but thats what I smelled for a couple days before my trasmission went up. It smelled like melting plastic, not melting transmission.

I remember reading about this on NAM, and it was said to be the clutch "burning" a little bit under heavy acceleration.

At first, I thought it was my tired. So I checked it after every hard acceleration and it wasn't the smell from the tired.

Anyone had solution on the smell??

very true, i get that smell too....kinda like plastic but it also seems like a tranny type smell that I smelled before when I used to have a Ford ProbeGT back in the day.... but just you guys, only smell it once in a while.

maybe you just ran over a plastic bag and it's melted to your exhaust.....might want to just peek underneath

i have an R56. i think it's the shipping grease on the hood. i got most of it off with WD 40 and it's not so noticeable. more noticeable when the sunroof is open.

couldbe your s/c belt slipping . or you could have some blow - bye coming back up the intake, into the air box and then to your nose .
