How do you know when your clutch is going out?
I am 40k on my 05 and the only reason I ask is because lately my clutch seems to be less grabby. I've never actually worn out a clutch before so what are the signs and whats the average life of these clutches?
theres no specific life expectancy for clutches. it all depends on your driving styles plus the quality of the materials. i have replaced a lot of clutches under warranty so they do go out for whatever the reasons.
a "less grabby" clutch could be a one thats going out. also one that make different kind of noises, or one that smells. is your clutch/brake fluid ok? have you checked for leaks?
if all is ok and is just "less grabby" than ride it till you can and then replace it. just don't waste money if you don't have to.

Q: How do you know when your clutch is going out?
A: Answers below.
Classic clue = If driving uphill on long grade and RPMs increase dispropotionately to how far you're pushing the throttle pedal down.
Another clue = shifting into gears has a hitch or catch even though clutch pedal is pushed to floor
Another clue = clutch pedal rests at different height than usual and/or clutch disengages with pedal at differt height than usual
Another clue = you hear clutch chatter when working clutch pedal
If you are brave = position auto with front bumper against sturdy wall and slowly let clutch out. Give it gas and slowly release clutch. Clue is if RPMs rise, indicating slippage, when pedal is nearing maximum height
