I'm having this issues also. My front opens about 2 inches or so and the back will open about half way during the course of a drive. Its doesn't pop right open it usually takes some time. Picked her up Aug 7, Week 29 I think.

Sunroof Sunshade

I purchased the sunshades from stratmosphere. They definitely keep the sun out. We live in Southern California not far from Palm Springs, so we were very aware of the sun problem through the sun roof, having previously owned a 2002 Mini Cooper. Fit is fine, although the front one does move around a little sometimes and requires some realignment occasionally. The slight movement of the factory mesh sunscreem has been pretty much eliminated after the stramosphere sunshade was installed.

I just noticed this on mine, and have to reach up and close it on occasion. I guess I will give my SA a call about it. I just hate being away from my MINI especially over such a small issue.

I picked up my 07 MCS on July 31st and the front sunshade has always rolled back a few inches while driving. Also unhappy with the amount of sun light it allows into the car. Anybody know of a sun shield that is a dark color that will fit? Thanks for any suggestion.

For a sunshade for both front and rear sunroof try:
stratmosphere.com

They have a set for $59.00 that fits very well. Living a Southern California, we were concerned about the rather poor sun protection that the factory screen provides. These sunshades are a great solution, without having to resort to limo type window tinting. The sunshade also seems to help the creeping back of the sun screen, although not completely.

Thanks, Dynamos. I'll look at their web site and then decide on their product or a tint job.

I got the sunshades - very fast delivery... unlike pepe who I am still waiting for! But look forward to trying these out before going to a limo tint... October in Chicago have a feeling wont have to worry about the heat for much longer!

I was told by the company that tinted mine at 35% that it didn't matter if I went with the Limo shade or the 35%. Still the same percent of UV protection. The limo tint just gives you more privacy. False belief that darker means more protection when it comes to tint. His brand anyway for those that want to play tug of war over it.

I've been tinted a week now. I've noticed a huge reduction in heat while that car is left baking in the sun during the day. While driving it is a very noticeable difference that I'm more than happy with.

Back to the subject at hand. My front shade moves open about an inch or so during driving. The rear about 3 inches. I hate to take it to the dealer for this. I also have the stains on the front wheel trim from the sticky under the hood nastiness that drips out during hot days. I guess I'll be making a dealer trip sometime soon.

The sun shades on mine open an inch or so sometimes when i open and close the sunroof, not that much to bother me, but should i have it fixed? When it does slide open and i close it, it stays put for a few days at least

My shade opens a couple of inches, but have been a little nervous about having the dealer operate on it. (but it's encouraging that some people have had sucessful fixes) Depending on its mood, mine will sometimes pop open when I'm sitting still...I'll close it and it snaps right back open like it's spring-loaded!

Hi ekailee, I've been checking out my options for tint (while I continue to wait for my car!) and noticed that you seem pretty happy with your ceramic tint. Where'd you get it done? Would you recommend them?

Thanks.

(feedback from anyone else in the so.cal/Long Beach area also appreciated!)

I got it tinted at DP Tint in Santa Ana about 2mi from Crevier. They wanted $500 and I got it for $300. I have read in other threads that you should not pay more than $200 for the tint job. DP Tint by the way is where Crevier BMW/MINI sends their cars to be tinted.
Ceramic tint by the way really keeps the heat out however i got my MINI in Nov.

Having mine go in for a buzzing speaker along with the sunshade. When I mentioned the sunshade they said there was a bulletin out on it.

Yep there is. They install some kind of rubber bumper that makes the first couple inches tight to open. I just had this done to my car a couple weeks ago. Of course in the process of them fixing that, they give it a nice rattle above the interior light. I'll have to make another trip to have them fix that as well.

I've looked at mine and can't find the rubber bumper they put in. You can definitely feel it though. That last/first move from closed is much tighter. It hasn't moved once since this fix. I wonder if later build cars are coming from the factory with this already done.

I took my MC in for several complaints, one involving "sunshade creep". My tech writer said that there was a fix for the problem. I believe he said that the "tensioners" needed replaced, and sure enough, when the parts came in they were replaced, and the shade now works perfectly. Thanks to Rob my tech writer at Dreyer & Reinbold Indy.
