Power Steering Fluid color?

I was checking the power steering fluid now that I got the CF 11S fluid. The current fluid looks to be a light brown color and the new fluid looks to be a very light green color.

I am thinking of using a turkey baster to suck out the old fluid and add new fresh fluid.

Maybe I should go and chew out the service dept at Carmax and ask what they put in it before I bought it a while back or just do what I mentioned and enjoy that I have new fluid before I get ready for a road trip to Colorado.

thanks-Kelly

The Pentosin CF 11S is the proper fluid. It is, as you observed, light green. My Audi uses the Pentosin too.

Does anyone know how much fluid it takes to bring the level from MIN to MAX? It seems a big waste to spend $27 for 1 whole litre of that stuff if all I need is 5 tablespoon. Who wants to sell me 5 tablespoonful of PS fluid

Thanks for the generous offer, we need more poeple like you in this world. The dilemma is it would be a very expensive 5 tablespoonful of fluid coming all the way from SF, but you just can't say "No" to LV.... Let me have a glass of wine and plug some numbers in the super computer for an answer. I will get back to you between the hours of 9-5pm.

I paid $18 for a liter of the PS fluid. Independent parts stores that specialize in VWs should have it in stock for under $20.

Just topped off the PS fluid today. It's quite challenging. The darn can of CHF 11s is so big, I would have probably spilled everywhere if tried to pour directly in there. Lucky that I had a spare syringe around. I felt like feeding little chick 600cc at a time.

So is this fluid used to top off or should it be used to flush out the power steering system?

What fluid is recommended to top off the resevior?

LOL nevermind..........guess I should just read the freaking Bentley manual !
