2006 MitM MINIs in the Mountains

MINI5280 announces it's first ever national motoring event.....

"MINIs in the Mountains" 2006 being held August 10-13 at the beautiful Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado.

MINI5280 wishes to invite each and every one of you to join us for 3 days of Motoring in the Mountains (Coopers at Copper).

We are offering some of the most beautiful rides anywhere, including the ride up Mt. Evans, at over 14,000 ft the highest paved road in the continental U.S. Open 24/7 there will be either a sunup or midnight ride to this altitude...never before and never again in your MINI!

See our Forums and posts in the Main Menu section of NAM, right by the Dragon area.

Hope to see you in Colorado this summer!!

Hope to be there

We hope to make this, is mt. evans on your list of roads? Scheduling won't be easy for us, but put us down as maybe.
See you in May.
Motoring down life's ever changing road, looking for higher elevations,

Indeed, Indeed

Mt. Evans and Trail Ridge Road, the highest ROADS in NA are both on the agenda:

[FONT=Times New Roman]7. Mt. Evans Scenic Byway – 170 miles r/t. The highest paved road in North America goes up to Mt. Evans, reaching 14,130 ft after 14 miles of twisties and turnies. Trust me, you will not get scenery like this anywhere else in your MINI, or anywhere else, period. You simply MUST get a picture of yourself up here…only 130 ft higher to the summit. Head east from Copper Mountain along I-70. Pass thru Summit County and up towards the Eisenhower Tunnel. Continue east to Idaho Springs, then exit and head south on CO 103 (Exit #240) about 15 miles towards Echo Lake and Mt. Evans. At the Ranger Station, pay your toll of $10 (yes, a fee) and take CO 5, Mt. Evans Highway 15 miles to the top. Please be aware that this road may cause some stomach queasiness in certain areas, as there may be views down without guard rails. Note: This road is very busy on weekends. We recommend this drive be made on weekdays such as Friday. Plan to go for sunup or sundown as the road is open 24/7 in season. About 55 miles to Idaho Springs, then 30 miles up to the top, plus return. Allow about 5 hours for this trip, not including lunch. www.mountevans.com

Please consider bringing the family

to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. This may be your only chance to get a picture of yourself and them at....14,000 ft in your MINI. Not in Illinois, not in Indiana (my home) not anywhere else in the C-USA.

Hmmm....do I smell....Holiday Card Picture???

Jonathan is there going to be camping/RV sites near the place too? My wife and I are looking ot do the same thing we are planning for the dragon and take our RV with Gunner in a trailer. We can talk to anyone who wants to go from St. Louis too and see if we can plan to take anything for them along in our RV if you can't carry what you want in your MINI.

Thanks,

Scott

RV Camping for Minis In The Mountains

Tiger Run RV Resort is located in Breckenridge Colorado and within 10 miles of Copper Mountain. This is a 5 Star RV Resort. We are currently residing here until our house closing in the next few weeks.

Please let me know if I can provide any further info. on the resort or the area in general. We have lived in Breckenridge for about 4 years and would be able to make suggestions on places to visit, eat, and/or other suggestions.

Thank you for your post

Please feel free to post anytime in our Forum for MITM 2006 with any and all local knowledge.

Rick Gonzales and I will have a callout for volunteers to lead rides and help with logistics at the event.

In the event there are other MINIs up there, email me and I will send you ecopies of flyers you can print and share, pass out, etc. We also can get you some MITM business cards to put on peoples windshields when you see a MINI.

Thank you for your support. Feel free to suggest any activity you wish for our weekend event.

2006 Mitm Minia in the Mountains

Currently there are 4 including ours in Breckenridge. I also work with someone that has a MCS, but stores it in Denver.

The Town of Breckenridge supports the Vipers, (when they aren't laying feet of rubber on Main), Corvettes in the Rockies, Matthews Vintage Club, and others. There may be an opportunity to get a car show on Main or in the Riverwalk in Breckenridge.

Let me know what I can do to help make this a great event.

I am relatively new to this site and I am not exactly sure how the private messages work. I believe my info. is available if you would like to send me a message.

Thanks.

Well, I just talked with my brother, who lives in Denver, and he said I could crash with him. He also said that I could bring two other MINIs with me to crash at his place as well. So if anyone from St. Louis wants to drive down with me let me know.

Me and Bean have FRAPPR, but it didn't look like it stuck, I'll try again later. We are having a St. Louis MINI Spring Ralley Next Satruday, so I thought I would talk to them all then.

I'm still working on talking my brother into a MINI, he says once they get all wheel drive, he is there. But other then that, he is ok. =)

If you wish

send me an email with your email address. I am at jsouz@allstate.com

Then, I will send you a copy of our flier, the Press Release, and pics of our (your) tshirts you will get with registration. They are cool.

You can then duplicate at your leisure for those attending your meeting this week.

Thanks,

Jonathan Souza

I am probably going to make the trip with a friend of mine. I was figuring on stopping in Denver to shorten the drive a little bit.

Hopefully I will see you at the Spring Rallye.

Appreciate the Bump

For those of you who value the 'cleanliness' of your beloved MINI (I do) you will be glad to know that one of our sponsors at MitM, Detailers Paradise (www.DetailersParadise.com) will be providing us the means and tools with which to keep our beauties clean. DP has donated all the car wash equipment we need (buckets, wool mits, microfiber towels, wheel brushes, etc) for us to keep our cars clean during the event. We will have a dedicated car wash area.

Further, to promote ongoing cleanliness, DP has donated a number of car wash kits (see above) to be given away (drawing) during the event.

Come dirty? Leave clean. You will want to be that way for the MitM Group Picture as well...

That will be nice we are planning to go but taking our RV again. Probably staying at a RV park close to Copper Mountain. I hope the weather is nice then too. I love Colorado and the big blue skies. Just waiting for the registration to start so we can get signed up.

Try this link

www.TownOfFrisco.com for RV and camping. That is closest, just down the Interstate. There is NO civilization closer than Frisco....

  • Be sure to POST in the 'I registered' forum.
  • We are expecting upwards of 150 MINIs and Minis for this event

The Dragon is over, now it is time to get high, alltitude that is. Really looking forward to MINIS IN THE MOUNTIANS, but not the drive across Kansas, but it will be worth it.

You know, we are looking forward to having you

and the others from KC, STL, OK, and beyond.

You may wish to start a 'caravan' thread in our area.

BTW, remember that the incentive to come to MITM and the Western Dragon is just this:

Where else can you go 14,246 feet up, on a paved road, at midnight, watching the Perseid Meteor Shower, Nekkid? Nowhere else on earth I suggest, Nowhere else on earth...

See you there.

Hope everyone had a great time at the Dragon, we did. Now that it's over I can direct my attention to the MitM. Have been to CO a lot and can't wait for this event. I know it will be super. Dan
