Hmm...... I recognize the building in the background (270/Manchester I believe), but I am having a hard time placing your location.

I will guess. Is it parking lot of West County Center? It is different now, however I notice the date on the picture was in 05.

Clue #1: 10th largest lake in the world. It could be either Great Bear (9th largest) or Great Slave (11th largest). According to the interweb, the 10th largest lake is Lake Nyasa in Africa-and I think that's a lot of snow and ice for Africa.

Clue #2: Looking a little east of Gimli. It could be Lake Winnepeg, the world's 13th largest lake.

I guess it depends on when the list was created. Maybe things changed after this "Global Warming" thing started. That would also explain the difference in the two pictures of the lake.
