I think that for that event most people feel that way.

That is why, ONE BAY WILL BE DESIGNATED TO MODS AT ALL TIMES. I may occupy the other one for an hour or two to do few little things, pretty much being out of the way of the exciting "gearhead part."

I think it will all work out fine.

Count me in. Have on my "to do" list to change my brake pads. Watching it get done the right way will help me in my New Years resolution of swearing less.

I'm interested in the oil change, and brake pads/rotors big time. I am really curious as to how and change the computer numbers after an oil change. Is that going to be taught?

Should I do my membership/registration on line or should I wait until next weekend?

Go ahead and do it online, we're not setup to process them in person. Thanks!

I'm game for the event

I have a 2 hour drive from Quincy but I thought I would drive down to meet other members.

I don't have any work to do on my JCW Mini other than Mark doing a little clearbra work - which I already contacted him today.

Always worked on my previously modded 328IS so it would be a good chance to learn from other members for my Mini.

Aaron, thanks, please bring the belt tensioner tool and we will give it a shot. I assume we need to remove the right wheel well plastic shield, correct? When Nick Isaac and I did his pulley upgrade a couple of months ago, we removed his without any broken fasteners. I'm very good when it comes to saving $$!! We'll see everyone next Saturday.

Brake pads and rotors inbound and should arrive tomorrow. Must have gotten hung up with snow and cold.

Went with Hawk HPS Street Pads and Cryo Stop Rotors - rotor specs:

Cryo-Stop Premium Rotor Features:
  • Premium black E-coating finish to combat corrosion on the rotor hat and between the cooling vanes
  • Cryogenically treated to greatly enhance durability
  • Castings include all O.E. details including all extractor and set screw holes
  • O.E. fin designs
  • Double disc ground finish
  • Fully machined finish including rotor hats
  • 100% inspected and mill-balanced
  • Lateral runout held to 0.002" or less
I decided to go with something new, so we'll all learn over time how well these rotors hold out.

I think you'll be really happy with these; a great project for everyone to learn how to do. See you Saturday!

Help, please!

My MINI is to be used for the oil change demo on Saturday, and the oil filter I ordered was backordered and won't be at my house in time. I have everything else, just no filter.

I live 150 miles from a dealer so I can't just run out and get one. Does someone have one I could buy from them or could someone stop in at the dealer and pick one up and I'll pay you back on Saturday? My MINI is a 2005 (Justa)Cooper cabrio.

If someone could help me out, I would really appreciate it.

I am gonna walk to my garage right now and put a new filter in my car for you! Consider it taken care of, and I look forward to meeting you.

The filter for the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S are different. Do you have the right filter for his Cooper? If not, I can run by the dealer tomorrow and pick one up.

I called them and ordered some small parts, paid for it over the phone, and they are taking them to the sales dept. for me so I can pick them up while in town. I live in Rolla, that was pretty cool. Don't forget that Purolator makes a filter for it and can be found at Oreilly Autoparts and Autozone. May want to call around.

RealOEM website shows the same part number for my Cooper cabrio and a Cooper-S cabrio.

I'll check around town. We have both AutoZone and an O'Reilly Auto Parts here. Maybe they'll have something other than filters for 4x4 trucks.

I might be wrong, but I thought Mike and I always had to use a different part for his Cooper. Maybe I'm thinking of the different spring cartridge that's in the Cooper canister.

I remember reading about a spring cartridge that had to be in place (I think) on the non-S that wasn't needed on the S. That might be it.
