I originally was signed up for a CAI intake install. As I used my budget for a JCW steering wheel, I may not have a CAI for the event. I am not sure if anyone is keeping tabs, but I will let you know just after the new year. Perhaps Santa will be good to me.

I am keeping a record, so let me know after the New Year if Santa brings you a CAI!

Given the time span, I presume the projects will be done consecutively (not simultaneously)---if so, that would be great. I want to see the brake pad change and the belt change.

As I have mentally resolved to get the JCW upgrade I am going to pass on the DDM CAI install. My thanks to those who volunteered to help. I will still be attending however, and would like to book a rear bumper guide install by Mark if he is taking reservations.

If Mark is doing installs, I would also like to book a small time slot for him to redo my scoop. My Mark is working out of town & will not be able to attend. I will be there if Mark P is doing installs.

I just ordered the strut brace for my JCW. I'll bring that with me, assuming it arrives by then (it should).

Give Mark P a call if you are interested in getting any Ultrashield pieces installed, he is booking those separate from our tech items.

I just spoke to Mark & he prefers NOT to do any installs that day so as not to tie up the bays with anything other than tech things. If it is cold he can not do it outside. If you are driving a great distance & really need something small done, call him & he will work with you.

Guess I won't be coming.

that is not being nice

if my installations will bring more people, i am all for it. my point is, that if we will be full with tech/mods, i do not want to take the room away.

even though, if we will be doing tech/mods one by one, we will have enough space for me to do something in the other part of the shop, so bring it on if you like....

Tech day request

I'm new to the St. Louis area and to the STL Mini club. My wife owns a 2006 Mini Cooper S that we both love. I just got the word last week from Bimmers R Us that my car needs discs and pads on the front. I'd love to delay my brake job to the 17th to do the job myself, as I would really like to become more independent from my dealer. Any chance I can fit it into the coming tech session to do the brake job, or is the repair too much for what you have scheduled? I'll need to know soon so I can order all the parts.

Thanks and I look forward to meeting the club members at the event.

Brendan

Mark has also offered to do a few stripes/roof graphics/Ultrashield pieces if people have the need. Call Mark to schedule and for rates.
I'm obviously not a "do it yourselfer" & with Mark out of town, I thought it would be a great chance to get my scoop done & visit with club members. I was just stating what you told me on the phone I'll give you a call to get it done.

Brendan,
Yes, we can fit that in with no problem! Get your front rotors and pads (either from MINI of STL with your 10% club discount or through a vendor on NAM). Bring it all to the event and we'll show you how to do it; it's very easy.
One suggestion for pads; if you want less dust on your wheels, get some Hawk HPS pads from raceshopper.com or a NAM vendor. They wear better and produce a fraction of the dust that stock MINI pads do. It's an upgrade nearly everyone does.
PM me with any other questions. We'll see you there!

I'd be kidding myself if I actually thought I'd do any work on my Mini, but I'll come along and see.

I just purchased my 02 MCS in August and I've finally gotten it clean. This year I am going to put Shelby Stripes on the bonnet and boot. Would this be of interest as a demo? If not, let me know and I'll get someone here in Rolla to execute. I plan on replacing the tires and wheels also this year. My wife and I plan on coming as long as we are invited.

I think the idea of this event is to demo technical tasks, rather than Mark showing his craft (which I don't want to try to tackle on my own). He does awesome work, but it's not really all that interesting to watch it done, IMHO.

The more I read, the more technical I see the front stripes becoming.

Then it should not have stated in the original post that Mark would do some stripes & Ultra Shield pieces

My bad...missed that, so I retract what I said earlier.

But with that said, I'm mostly just interested in the gearhead part. No disrespect meant to Mark, I'd just rather pay him to do that stuff now and then than do it myself. I don't need to watch how it's done.

Maybe a day of modding(both performance and aesthetic) /maintenance/detailing/part swap is in order for the spring. Maybe some lunch too
