There's No Poker in the Long Beach Rally..

So who is planning on going to this years Rally? It's being called Motoring For Swag--not to be confused with NAM's MotorSwag. Lots of new prizes and gifts for attendees. They've taken all the feedback from previous years and working hard to make a BIG IMPACT.

Signup is here:
http://www.eyegiantmedia.com/minifinal.html

While details are still being finalized, there are several things happening for certain.

1.) Participation is going to be capped, so if you're thinking of going, get signed up today as they are more than half full.

2.) The Rally isn't a morning/afternoon event--it's afternoon/evening.

3.) The new t-shirts are pretty cool, and very different from past Rallys.

4.) Long Beach MINI has decided to break out of the mold. Everyone is doing a Poker Rally these days, but they still recognize the need to Motor and Mingle with fellow MINIers, and that we all want to win prizes, so this year they are providing numerous opportunities for everyone to walk away with something cool. Just maybe other dealers will follow suit next year!

5.) Long lines are boring, not to mention uncomfortable in the sweltering heat. Registration is expected to be in car this time--in small groups at predetermined times. So come prepared with cash and waiver forms in hand so you don't miss out!

6.) The big prizes they are offering are items that aren't even for sale yet. I've seen them, and would love to own a few!

7.) Yes, there is a womens volleyball component, but don't worry, it's not like they had a bunch of free tickets to give away and decided to make an event about it. LB MINI is intertwining MINI events and more opportunities to win prizes throughout the game. There's even talk of a MINI VIP party afterwards. So even if you aren't a fan of womens volleyball, LB MINI is going to make it worth your while to try something new for a change.

8.) The events will be centered around the Pyramid at Cal State Long Beach instead of the dealership like past years. I've seen some interesting ideas in the works for MINIizing this, and if they really pull it off, which I'm confident they will, that alone is a reason to hang out after dark.

9.) There's going to be a race. Think AutoX but MINI style. You might want to gear up with your track helmet, gloves, racing suit-- just for fun, or not, and the gals, if you plan to wear a skirt/dress for the event make sure to bring some sweats or shorts to change into so you aren't left out of the fun.

So have you signed up yet and gotten your number???

Bummer, this year the date conflicts with SEMA. When you are having BBQ and mini conversation I will be driving to Vegas.

Have fun, get some pix and video...this will be the first one I have missed, maybe My daughter will go with her silk green mini

Ah, I am supposed to go to SEMA myself. Plus the SCMM is having a run that day. That sucks - three things in one day.

Bud if you are driving TO vegas on the 5th you will have no trouble getting a room as the show ends on the 4th.

Sema is 11/1 thru 11/4 this year .

Waivers will be sent out to all registered participants. Numbers are being distributed manually through email. I haven't received anything either, but if you registered a few weeks ago, I'd register again just to make sure you're on the list--cause I registered when the site first went up, but I wasn't on the master list either.

re: Cash
I think it's $20/car which includes lunch and the rally shirt and some other goodies. Don't hold me to that number---I think last year was $25, though my memory isn't the greatest--but $20 is being tossed around right now as the number.

re: SEMA
interesting--I forgot about that--I'm supposed to be there as well.

re: SCMM Run
Well, WCM is also having a run that weekend to Calico that unfortunately will be missing as well, but I think this event is going to be a lot of fun, so I don't feel bad.

re: Brian
Awww that's too bad---yeah hope Amanda can come

re: Matt
Yes I know---they told me that they sent out emails to owners and everyone in their database, but I too never received anything--but keep an eye on this thread as I will be posting updates as they come in.

Yep, I believe it'll start around 2 or 3pm. It's still being finalized.

Add me to that growing number of wanna-be participants who have registered and not received a number or confirmation. I'll wait a bit longer I suppose. Patience was never my thing.

For all c3 members who haven't received a number yet, I'm going to make sure you get yours by today. Also, I believe they are pulling the plug on signups shortly as they have reached their goal of 150 signups. They might allow a few extra to accomodate cancellations, but looks like those that didn't sign up are too late.

Phubear
Yeah, Long Beach was absent for awhile due to various internal problems, but we never gave up support on them. I'm happy to know they are still one of our strongest supporters, and this years rally should bring that out even more.
