Is it possible/likely that they're confirming Long Beach MINI customers first? Has anyone who's gotten a number not indicated LB MINI as their dealer?

I ask because I signed up shortly after I saw the announcement on C3, then re-applied after Richard posted here on 10/21, and still have not received a number. I think there may be some SCMM folks who don't frequent here who may have signed up without confirmation as well.

I'm a South Bay customer and I got my number the 20th of Oct, maybe 2 weeks after registering.

I've never even been to LB MINI and I got a number about a week ago. You could be in the top ten sign-ins. Richard said they're being notified last for some reason.

 

Hmm I wonder if they are giving priority to people who have NOT been to the rally in the past. I've got my party crasher suit ready.......

 

Haha this numbers thing is really getting people worried huh? When they first started taking signups, they weren't even distributing numbers. I gotta remind them to send me that list. Will do it on Monday.

i think it's just their funky system as mentioned earlier

 

I wouldn't worry either . I have been to 2 previous events and got a number last week.

Hey, maybe your email options placed it in the spam folder on account of "no subject" being in the subject line (which I think lacks forethought). Look for an email from someone named Becky Bell.

Ok so who hasn't gotten a number yet? All numbers should have been distributed today. Please post if you haven't so I can submit your name tomorrow. These are the names I collected previously.

Carefully check your emails! I checked mine just now and found two from Becky Bell in my spam box. They're trivia questions to get the party started!

 

I think one may have gotten away from me 'cause I only got one tonight from chiming Rebecca. It opens with trivia question #2. Haven't seen any with question #1.

 

I never got #1 either, nor my number, and I'm helping plan this thing.

 

Well, I got a number weeks ago, but no further emails.

I've been getting all of the e-mails, but the most recent one is confusing me.

"You have seen our fashion shows, now it's your turn. Come ready to show off yourself and your MINI. So Get Creative. We will judge on 3 things

1. Best Modified
2. Best Dressed
3. Best Future Modified (details later)"


I understand number 1...but what about number 2? Do they want us to show up in tuxedos and gowns? And I hope they hurry up and explain number 3, because the future is now.

 

Hmmm...I haven't received a single email since I got my number. Even checked my junk mail filter and stuff. Guess I'll have to email Long Beach.

Great pix, Dave! I was unable to participate because I had an art exhibit opening yesterday. Looks like it was a lot of fun and there were so many wonderful MINIs and Minis! Thanks for the link!

 

I understand that LB MINI goes the extra mile in organizing these rallies every year, but I was really disappointed with this years run.

They did an awesome job at getting the local businesses and sports teams involved, setting up a seperate website, arranging the catering, and getting CSULB to let us use their VIP room and a whole parking lot, but it was like they dropped the ball after that.

The website was never updated, the runs were a total cluster$/#@, the traffic was horrible, and (besides the 2 nanos) the swag was nonexistant. I don't count pens and pads of paper as "swag". Lucky are those that did not come in "first" or "second place" and won a nice camping chair. The contests were hard to understand...I think the guy who won "Best Future Modded" spent about $2000 in the LB MINI parts department that day..and got a camp chair.

I could tell that some of the LB MINI staff had worked really hard at organizing certain parts of the event, and those parts showed. Some of the things that wowed me were the Cabrio/rides thing, the MINI symbol on the pyramid, and the VIP room, but something was definitely missing this year...it was like a body without a head.

The most frustrating thing of all, is that this could have been a really cool thing, had there been a bit more attention to detail. As it stands now, I'm sure there are lots of people that felt like they wasted a Saturday in traffic.

 

I had planned on attending. Got up, washed my car, and then couldn't drive. My knee was hurting something awful. I ended up in urgent care with a severly strained ligament in my right knee.

It sounds like I might have had as much fun in the urgent care center as many of you at the rally! I'm just glad I didn't waste a bunch of gas running around Long Beach.

 

Sorry to hear Robyn, no wonder we didn't see ya How ya feeling today? Any better?

 

I saw the ortho today and will be going to physical therapy beginning next week. It does feel a whole lot better! Thanks:smile:
