10/9 Brecht Mini Mountain Rally...any takers?

I got my postcard in the mail today and haven't decided if I am going to go. Has anyone done this the last 2 years? What can I expect from it? I'd love to meet some other Miniacs!

Robyn, I'm not sure. I would call Brecht and ask them. I do know that they need an accurate count as they pre-buy tickets to the car event at the Navy Base on Coronado.

According to their website you have to have either purchased your MINI from them or have it serviced there. I am probably out of the country then so probably won't register in case I waste someone else's spot. From what I heard of previous year's, they do a pretty good day out.

I'm a little late in replying to this thread, but...

I got my invite this year (now that my car has been serviced by Brecht), but am not taking part. I thought about it briefly, but since the Speed Fest event on North Island is my one chance during the year to see and photograph vintage cars, I have to give that my priority. Sounds like everyone has a great time on the drive, though.

On the 9th I'll be flying out to IN, to pick up my MINI on the 10th.

I went to the vintage car thing on North Island last year - very cool! Also interesting is the VIP Car Corral (dirt lot behind the race track bleachers). Worth checking out if they do it like last year - lots of nice vehicles, old and new, various makes and models. Anyone could stroll through at any time and have a look.

I forgot to register!!!

I had a hellish week at work, and it completely slipped my mind. So I went to the Brech site tonight to sign up, and registration is closed! Looks like I am calling Mike tomorrow to see if he can get me in. Wish me luck!

Anybody have pics to post?

I saw you all at the Coronado Speed Fest yesterday - I love the way the MINIs took over pretty much the entire car-club corral in the afternoon - but I didn't get any pics (if only people would have parked straighter I might have gotten a shot worthy of the NAM calendar).

I guess the Speed Fest isn't the main point of the rally, but I think it would be nice if the rally started around 8 instead of 10 a.m. so watching the races could be an option in the afternoon. Plus, the mountain roads are more deserted the earlier you start.

Anyway, hope you had fun - let's see some pics!

Had a great time! 175 MINIs registered and came. They did in fact run out of room to park all of us at the base - so MINIs were everywhere! It was pretty cool. Brecht did a great job - gave away lots of great prizes......the run was fantastic and we were completely pooped when we got home... Here's a few pix...

My wife and I and our two dogs had a ball but the inlaws had our camara so we were unable to get any shots of the day so I would love to see more pictures of the event if any one has some more to post.
