Is anybody here familiar with the Olde Ship British Pub in Santa Ana? Well, you should be! They have the best Fish & Chips in Orange County and a very extensive food, beer, and wine list. It's a very authentic British pub with a HUGE private & secure back parking lot. Anyway, I am not doing an infomercial for them, I am suggesting it as a possible gathering place for us MINI people to meet in the future. I think it would be a fun place to meet. It is a British style pub so kids are allowed. Anyway, here are the details. Is anybody interested in meeting there in a week or two?

The Olde Ship
British Pub & Restaurant
1120 W 17th St
Santa Ana, California

Rick,
I'll be there. Do you have date and time in mind. Are you a member of SCMM?

That might make a nice locale for my first MINI gathering. Nice and close to home!

If there is a local club, I don't want to step on toes. I don't know of any clubs because I am new to the MINI scene (but an old timer in the Classic Mini scene). I am not trying to start a club or anything, this is merely a suggestion for a central place that MINI owners can meet, safely park their cars, meet other MINI owners, and have an excellent meal. I don't have a time and date in mind. Any ideas?

Sounds nice! I'd join you too! Btw, I agree, don't make it a club organized event, though I know you said you don't belong to a club.

I won't be there.

I'm English, but I do NOT recommend this place.

It's all about the ownership.

Not all English are nice people.

I'm not talking about the staff.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience there. I've been going there at least once a month since the grand opening of their Fullerton pub (nearly a decade ago) and have never had ANYTHING to complain about. Great service and excellent food.

Rick - - My son just returned from Europe and he says that excellent English food is an oxymoron!

Rick,

Ask the owner, Doug, how he treats people who do charity events at his place. I'm sure he'll act like he hasn't a clue what you're on about. As long as he makes a fortune that's all that matters. I know a lot of people who won't go back there again.

Most any Sunday late morning or early afternoon works for me.

Enjoy the party and do let me know if things will continue there. I like the idea of casual gatherings Saturday mornings and Sundays. I'll be there next time.
Where are you taking Wanda?

Buz,

I'm taking Wanda cross-country to visit many MINI friends. The centerpiece of my trip is attending the Tail of the Dragon Meet in North Carolina, April 29 - May 2. In fact, BabsWife and I are co-hosting the Friday night event, "Dragon's Breath Chili Cook-Off," which should be a blast, tee hee!! My hubby will fly east to motor home with me in late May. Gonna be a fabulous trip!

My gosh, my brain has had a lapsis of the synapsis. Totally had forgotten about all the Dragon events even after having followed all the info and seeing the T-shirts!!!!! Duh!
That will be a nice adventure for you and your hubby.
Please bring lots of photos and stories to a pub meeting.
