MiniClo mentioned that someone from SCMM is organizing a caravan from the south state to AMVIV on Feb 5(?). I'm trying ro organize one from the Bay Area and wondered if the two groups could hook up at Barstow for the final "dash" to Vegas. My thread on this is in the Northern California forum.

I'm in San Diego and would like to meet others in Poway, Escondido, Temecula, Corona, and Barstow. We have not made plans as to exactly when to leave yet.

I will come back and post time later.

I am in the process of putting together a SoCal caravan meeting place for that Friday Morning at Ontario Mills in Ontario. I like the idea of a meetup in Barstow!

I guess it'll be easier to pick you out in the crowd now.
You be the Elvis in the black jump suit!

mini owners in so cal are welcomed to roll with us too. Should be fun
That'd be awesome.
The lowrider car clubs get together all the time, especially when they have their big bash in Vegas.
Can you imagine SCMM, TMM, MOALA, and independents flying down that I-15 stretch into the Valley, wherein lies Las Vegas, all at the same time!

Nonsense, come on down to LV and have a some fun with us mainlanders!

When I was in Vegas a few months ago they were having that Low Rider bash and it was crazy! Lowriders everywhere! The cops were out in force giving tickets that night

We (www.westcoastminiclub.org) are working on that now. Want to leave the San Diego area to Escondido, temecula, Murrieta, Ontario Mills (Ontario) to Barstow, and finally Vegas!

What about this?

Where: Ontario Mills, NW Corner behind the AMC movie theatre.
When: Friday, Feb. 6th, 2004, as early as possible
Who: All SoCal MINI owners, club affiliation does not matter

ATTENTION ALL SOCAL MINI OWNERS!

Caravan to what promises to be one of the largest MINI events ever!

The format will be a staggered start. Depending on the number of MINI's that arrive, groups of 5-10 will leave in 5 minute increments. Start time for the first group will be 9:00 AM SHARP and continue until all MINI's are on the way! From this location, it is possible for all MINI's (MC and MCS) to arrive in Vegas without any stops. For those of you that travel a bit faster than most, which is becoming increasingly difficult on this stretch of road, there will be a stop in Barstow or Baker, again depending on the number of MINI's that are caravaning. More information when the numbers start to shape up.

The staggered start is necessary to avoid clogging the only road into Vegas from SoCal with MINI's. That would only draw much un-needed attention to the group and really get the weekend started off on the wrong foot.

Some things to remember:
-I15 is HEAVILY patrolled on the weekends. Combined with the never ending construction and get away traffic, mind your speedo. It's that big round thing in the center of dash, unless you've got Nav. In that case, consult your owner's manual.
-My guess is that the Nevada State Troopers already know about this and will be keeping a close eye. I HIGHLY recommend following the posted speed limits from Stateline in Vegas. Consider this your warning.
~There are 3 main stopping points along the way if you so wish. The first being the Outlet shops in Barstow. The second being the large lot across the street from Bun Boy in Baker and the third being the outlet shops in Stateline. Gas, food, coffee and potty are all accessable at any of these locations.

Questions? email db@dbmini.us.

Link to AMVIV: nullA Mini Vacation in Vegas

Here's what I know about caravanning from San Diego/Southern California. This is primarily extracted from West Coast Mini info that i've seen. Additional info from dbwildo/SCMM.

We're off to Vegas is less than one week. There are several clubs of MINI and Mini owners caravanning together from Southern California. Departure date is Friday, February 6, 2004. The departure times noted will get us into Vegas at circa 2pm, but more likely 3pm or so, as we've got to eat.

Southern California MINI Maniacs - http://www.scmm.org

San Diego Mini Club - http://members.***.net/sdmini/

West Coast MINIs - http://www.westcoastminiclub.org

Mini Owners of America/Los Angeles - http://www.moala.org

Team Mighty MINIz - http://www.teammightminiz.com

"San Diego" Meeting Point #1: 6:15 am at Brecht Mini Parking lot in Escondido, for a 6:45 am departure. Auto Park Way exit off of Interstate 15.

"San Diego" Meeting Point #2: 7:30 am at Target Parking Lot in Murrieta for an 8:00 am departure. California Oaks Rd. exit off of Interstate 15

"San Diego" / "Southern CA" Meeting Point #3: 8:45 am , for a departure window of 9:00 am to 9:45 am (estimated). Behind the AMC Theatre, in the Ontario Mills Shopping Center, 4th Street exit off of Interstate 15. There is a Texaco gas station nearby if you want to fill up before heading for the desert.

The Ontario Mills Shopping Center is where we plan to gather the various groups from San Diego, LA, Orange County, Riverside, etc. We will be departing in "pods" from there.

Other "pit stops" along the way--if necessary.

Barstow Outlet Mall, Barstow, CA - Lenwood Rd. exit off of 1-15

Bun Boy - Baker, CA, just off of I-15 at Baker Blvd.

Stateline has been suggested.

Note: It's roughly 300 miles from Escondido to Las Vegas, so FRS Radios/Walkie Talkies are going to come in handy. Channel 7/sub 21 seems to be most prevalent. Remember to bring your chargers.

If you have other information re: meeting points for others caravanning to the Ontario Mills meeting point or into Vegas, please PM me with the details or feel free to post them in this thread.

See you there.

Jim, you didn't indicate which day the So Cal caravan leaves. Is it Thursday, Feb 5 or Friday, Feb 6? Several of us from the Bay area are leaving Thursday, Feb 5 and plan to be in Barstow by 3:30 P.M.

Is that time feasible for a link up? Important I know ASAP.

ZGOKART,

The caravan leaves Ontario Mills Friday morning. We'll most likely be in Vegas by 3:30 unless we can arrange something between now and then.

Dominic from Arizona MINI Owners has sent out a final summary... it may be posted elsewhere, but we can use it here. It's less than 36 hours 'til Vegas departure...

Taking the liberty of posting the latest from Dominic Tuso @ Arizona
Mini Owners:

Hello all,

I just wanted to thank all of you who have shown interest in the A
Mini Vacation In Vegas event. Remember, I choose the location and
time, but it's you who will make it an event!

A few new items I just wanted to share with all of you:

* MiniMania will be there with their Stage III MINI Cooper S that was
in Motor Trend magazine Feb 2004.
http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/minimania.htm
* There will be Mini only parking at the Stardust. Look for the
special roped off area.
* All of the Las Vegas media has been notified of our presence in
their city, so smile pretty!
* There's going to be a Slot tourney after the Friday night dinner.
http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/events.htm
* Preview the event tee-shirts at
http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/shirt.htm
* Get you camera warmed up for the Mini 21 photo scavenger hunt.
http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/mini21.htm

Everything else about the event is covered at
http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com
