Ok folks, I stopped by LB MINI today and saw all the cool things they are preparing for Sunday. I hinted yesterday as to the grand prize, and I got the OK from them today to share it, so I'm going to spill the beans.

Grand Prize is a Mini iPod + Adapter (controlled by your MFSW), and installation. Yep, you heard me, LB MINI is the ONLY dealer in the US that has the adapter, and they are now an authorized iPod dealer as well.

If the winner doesn't have an MFSW, there will be an alternate version of the iPod prize.

Also, this years Rally T-shirts look great. They are red like last year and feature a historical timeline on the back of the shirt.

I'm scheduled to give a VacuCam demo, and I also donated some Malibu Canyon DVD's as well.

I'm not sure what time the demo is scheduled--I think maybe around 11:45. Not sure. If it's raining, I'll just do the demo inside--on one of the cars in the showroom. That's how I did it today and it worked fine. Kinda nice to be able to play with the '05 cars. The new cup holder was kind of a drag since it's really big, and sits right on the edge of where I put the video switch box, but fortunately, it doesn't get in the way.

Do you know what the alternate version of the iPod prize is? As I hope to win!! ( and don't have MF steering wheel ) :smile:

 

They hadn't determined it yet (when I spoke to them yesterday), but I think they might offer the larger iPod instead of the Mini version, or some variation of that.

 

I have not registered yet. Can I do it the day of the event? I am looking forward to meeting all of you.

 

Rick, just register on line. They have a limited number of spots available. They had 130 registered persons yesterday, and they are capping it at 150. So I wouldn't delay, if you are planning on going--you will pay on Sunday, but atleast submit the registration form now.

You don't, but it sure will make it more fun. You see, the way the rally works is you are given a sheet with directions--miles to each destination. You need to navigate the given route precisely. If you've got a nav, it really won't help cause you won't get destination addresses. :smile:

Last year, I went alone, and ended up gaining a co-pilot there---a future MINI owner asked if he could ride along with me. I wouldn't want to do the rally without somebody checking the route map. :smile:

Some pictures from today's rally. It was nice the early morning rain give way to some sunshine. Also good to see so many people and cars from NAM there.

Here's a couple of shots of drdrumanbass' nice MINI. :smile: The monochromatic appearance looked great.



There were also several old Minis. I like the contrast of old and new in this one. I wish I could have had both cars in a better setting to execute this a little better though.

 

The rally was great, I can't wait to buy a copy of the DVD. Richard buzzed past me a few times, so I may even be on it.

The folks at Long Beach Mini really know how to throw a party. Good seeing you all.

In case anyone was wondering, the lady with the bird won the 60's costume competition.

By the way...I called my hand a couple of days ago (pair of two's) and that's exactly what I got!!

 

It was my first LB event, and I had a great time. Texas Hold'um might have given me a better hand however...
