>>Having a super fun twisty route to drive was worth the price.

Please, driving around on streets like that was just boring. I am just sad because I know what this event could have been. I was one of the first cars back and there was nothing to do but stand in the sun for 3 hours. I love MINI's but so few people mod their cars there really is not much to look at. Long Beach MINI did an OK job with planning this event, but with the crowds they knew they would have, they could have done alot better.

Well, I had fun. The drive wasn't as fun as last weekends MINI Escape event with European Car magazine, but as an all day event packed with prizes, and lots of people, I'd say the $20 was worth it. And yes, definitely bring a co pilot. I went there solo because my co-pilots flaked on me and ended up meeting a very cool guy from the forums who became my partner!

It would have been a nightmare driving without him. So yes, definitely bring an extra person. And besides if you don't, you won' t have a chance to swap clothes!!

re: Goodies
Don't forget we all got a cool Long Beach MINI battery powered fan, a Bottle of Octane valued at $12.95, a t-shirt, lunch, jamba juice coupon, snow cones and cotton candy, and chances to win some pretty high end prizes!

I'm coming again next year--with shorts and a not so tight t-shirt, and a co-pilot about my build too so I can swap clothes easier. =)

Btw, for everyone that went to the Poker Rally, in case you didn't know, that was me who provided that Orange Gel known as Octane in your goodie bags. Just in case you were wondering what the heck that was doing there!

>>so few people mod their cars there really is not much to look at.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion so I'm tossing in my two pennies worth.

1st penny:
There was much to look at.
Aziandoll was plenty to look at (i know she's married but she's still good looking.
I met other people that are pleasing to look at and talk to.

2nd penny:
If all the cars were modified, there'd be nothing to look at.
None would stand out like the few MINIs that were.

Okay, my 2 cents are spent.

That was me LC.
Too bad I didn't have my camera in hand so I could show everyone on this forum what this old guy is talking about.

Speaking of which, I did post some pics on my weblog. Check it out!

You know what, I did register ourselves as owners on the SCMM website.. are we supposed to wait for a packet or something? Because when I registered.. the site mentioned something about paying within 30 days. I didn't know what to do.. am I supposed to receive registration info? Or should I just re-register?

Well I for one had a blast. I will be back next year.
Was nice to meet people and put faces to names even though I didn't have much time to talk with them. Next year. Talking to peter from M7 was informative.
Well worth driving 350+ miles to get there and the 20 bucks. I got a cool T-shirt , food for three and a neat goodie bag. The drive was fun. Got confused once but recovered. Most people there were on there first or second rally run. LB MINI did a great job planning a route that would be fun for all. The object wasn't to lose everyone on the streets but to have fun.

Was fun to pull up to Legends and have all the drunks get excited about us.

Just one comment to all the naysayers. Step up to the plate and volunteer to help and participate. As someone who is involved with my club I know what it takes to plan events. Well done LB MINI

That event event was definitly well thought out and put on. You also get what you put into it. Did you decorate your car? Did you mingle? Did you talk with the vendors? Did you share your ideas with others? exactly. If you didn't involve yourself you only have your self to blame if you didn't have a good time.

After you sign up you should have been given an address on the screen to let you know where to send your dues. If that was not the case, please pm me or email to don@scmm.org and I'll help you out.

Welcome to the club!!!

Greetings........

Last year I was a newbie a the PokerRally, going home from the event I decided to start M7 and the rest is history
I guess. I think Bill is right about involving your self, mingle and talk to people. It's like going to a party it's not
going to be better then what you make of it period. I met so many nice people with a genuine interest in our beloved
Mini which makes me feel even better about being involved in this business. I also think long Beach Mini did a great job with the event planning and personaly I would like to thank Becky Bell and the whole crew.........

Hey Octaneguy I just used some of that cream and wow it really works!

AC, the RedBull mini was a custom job. Did anyone see that they had coolers in the back where they kept all the redbulls? The coolers were right under the giant redbull can.

I'm definatly going to the rally next year. I'll have more mods so my mini wont be as boring...

As the mini brochure says---Fuel The Cool, aka Feel The Cool, but fuel it, get it? Put it on your skin, and you'll feel reaaaaaallly good. You can put it on your hair, but I wouldn't recommend it. It won't do much, but make things funny feeling!

In case you didn't know about Octane, check these 2 links, you might be surprised!
