I heard they're charging an extra penny and a smile if you have non-LB MINI plate frames.

What're the stats on your MINI?

If anyone's looking for a ride, look me up at Long Beach tomorrow. I've gone through almost 10 potential passengers, and they've all flaked one way or another. Not that I need to go with anyone, it just makes it a bit more fun!

First one that asks shall get to ride! or email me before tomorrow.

Look for this MINI

Ha ha!! Gotcha! I wouldn't want it any other way. Now to go do a quick wash of my baby before heading down to LB!

Is it just me or was that event a bit boring. The drive was slow, way too much time to wait for the prizes. Food was good, but it just feels like for $20 I got ripped off. Oh well, it was nice to see the cool M7 stuff on display.

Well, to me, it was okay: lunch for me and my hubby, a t-shirt, cotton candy , and looking at other people's minis, it was fun. You have to figure that LB Mini has to pay for the food and t-shirts, so they have to cover some costs of putting on the whole event. Anyways, I'm from the Lomita area, and my hubby works in PV, but has never driven my car much. He totally enjoyed driving it on PV drive East. I especially enjoyed the look on one guy's face up at Crest Road.. he was standing in front of his house, smiling, completely enjoying seeing all the cars go by... what a better way to promote the car, huh? Can you imagine what he was thinking..."I like that one, with those rims, those stripes, and that color..." I bet you he'll probably buy one. The looks on all the people at Legends too.. they must have been thinking of the same thing. Anyhow, it was all fun, I thought. I wouldn't mind going to another of these type of events. Plus meeting some of you here on this forum was nice. The only things I didn't like were the weather.. so damn hot (we're like dehydrated now!) and the way they parked us.. we had to like page 2 people to move their cars to get out. But overall, it was worth it. I'd go again next year.. I'm just hoping they change their route. Did anyone go last year, and was it the same route?

I thought it was a great meet! Yeah it might not have been worth $20 but it was still a lot of fun. There was a lot of minis there too! I didnt go on the run because when I was in line to register everyone left for the drive. I just hung around the M7 tent the whole time. After most of the people left and they were cleaning up Peter let me ride in his MCS with the Venom kit and wow!!!

I had fun... i think $20 was worth what i got in return: t-shirt and food for 3. I think that would equal the fee.

I agree.. the drive was kind of slow, but what can you expect through city streets... unless ( ). I love going on PV drive east... first time i drove it with the mini... i just wish i wasn't stuck behind that van during the hairpin section .

I'm glad I got to meet some of you finally... or at least see your cars.

well, if you guys have imagestation accounts (Free by the way), here are some pics to look at:

see ya!

Twenty bucks per car is nothing!
A whole afternoon of nothin but MINI talk, MINI people and MINI driving, a fair amount of swag and a lot of prizes.
Twenty bucks doesn't get much anymore. I felt that it was a fairly well organized and run day especially considering the number of participants.
I came away with 4 shirts, no big prizes but more than $20.00 in discounts from Long Beach MINI and would do it again next week if it were offered.

Remember the Blues Brothers? "Whataya want for nuthin...rubbbbber bisssscccuits?

No complaints here, made some new friends, got to see lots of Mini's. Having a super fun twisty route to drive was worth the price. I didn't win anything either, but that swap clothes game was fun, good for future reference, heeheehee

AND I think I am going to write a letter to the owner and staff of Long Beach MINI thanking them for a great job and let them know I am looking forward to next years event. I am hopeful that other participants will do the same.

Very good idea, good way to keep events like this happening!

Also, note to future rallyers, bring a copilot. I drove myself about nuts driving stick, holding a map, looking for road signs, and NOT hitting other drivers.

Yes! I totally agree with that, especially if you don't really know the area too well! Plus, it makes it more fun! I let my hubby drive the whole time, since he doesn't get to drive my car often... it allowed me to take lots of pics!
