Hey I just got my new MIni and I have spent hours on my computer trying to find ways to mod the exterior. I just bought a VelvetREd/VelvetREd at the Long Beach Mini. I am going to take it in and get black stripes, but I want driving lights. How can I do this without paying 750.

http://new.minispares.com/NewMiniExterior.cfm

I found these for 120 british pounds which is around 200 dollars plus 50 in shipping. This site looks exactly the same as minimania. hmmm.
next problem how to install. how much would it cost. would it void warranty.

please tell me what you have done.

cheers

Yup, that site sure does look like MiniMania except in British Sterling! Well, good for them.
Regarding the driving lights, they shouldn't have any effect on your warranty, but just give your Mini Dealer a call to confirm.

I bought the lights from MINI Spares, total with shipping was like $227 (exchange rates change). They are the OEM lights and they took me about two hours to install. The dealer can install them for you but my dealer wants $89/hour and they said it was a two hour install so I tried it myself. If you do it yourself remeber that you will need to still take the car in to have the electronic control box programed to operate the lights, they may or may not charge you for this. I know some folks on here got this done when they brought the car in for something else. Any questions let me know.

Your best bet for actual MINI OEM parts is to contact Classic Auto Campus (see sponsor directory). That's where I picked up my Aero kit, driving lights, and floor mats for WAY, I repeat, WAY under dealer prices. Good luck.

I just called Classic Auto Campus and they offer everything pretty much 20% off whic makes the kit 320 dollars + 7 dollars in shipping.

For those that have purchased theirs in England. How long did it take to arrive? 229 is a great deal.

Know any cheaper aftermarket installers? Please let me know. I called up a bunch of places and the best I got was Johnny's Auto Clinic (recommended by Minimania) at 70 an hour. Please let me know. If you have installed it yourself and am willing to meet me and help out. Ill be glad to pay you somethign on the side. Thank you.

They actually sent my lights two day delivery and that was included in the price I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Moss Rally Style Light Bar
It's $349.95 for the kit. Installed it myself, about 6 hours work for a first timer.
