Atlanta Mini Maniacs - anyone?
Just curious how many of you out there are the in Atlanta area (or surrounding area).
We are in Marietta, but have seen the notorious "Jose's Painting" Yellow Mini on the roads. Pretty cool looking Mini.

Peter,
I'm in Birmingham, AL. Don't know if I had mentioned that before to you but there you have it.
I'm trying work things out so that I'll be able to make it to your Rspeed meet on Aug. 11. Maybe we can get a little group (MINI) to come by and make the Miata people nervous.
What do you say Atlanta area people?!?
"but have seen the notorious "Jose's Painting" Yellow Mini on the roads. Pretty cool looking Mini. " ? I'm in and out of Atlanta quite a bit and don't have a clue as to what your talking about here........ Am I missing something? Is it someones MINI?
As for me being a MINI maniac..... I think the answer lies somewhere within this website.....
Happy Motoring!

Yes - I remember that you are representing the B'ham crew
Jose's Painting is a company here that always has a new yellow car with all their vinyly advertising all over it...the interesting thing is that they ALWAYS have a new car before it is even released publically (or close to it) - they had the new Beetle before anyone could get their hands on it - very smart marketing tactics.

I'm down in Jacksonville guys but I might be able to make a meet in the Atlanta area on a weekend. Let me know some details if you decide to follow through with it. I should have my Mini by the 25th of this month.
Hello from the Carolinas! I'm in Charlotte waiting on my Cooper S, and hope to see you on the road soon.

Hi! I am in Mooresville, NC and waiting on a red Cooper S. Although, the waiting's not to bad because I have an original 67 S in the garage and a few other rides to keep me entertained. Check them out at http://www.funcar.com. I think I'll go back for another test ride. Flow Mini in Greensboro was very nice about test rides.
Sort of close by to Atlanta....out in the Loganville area east of Stone Mountain and would be very happy to get toegther for a Mini-day at some point soon. Currently running a Silver/Black S and will shortly be getting the windows tinted, the aero kit added and hopefully getting some aluminum pedals ( fed up with the rubber coming off the current ones)
I';ve only seen a couple of Mini's out here and they seemed to be passing thru so my little baby is a little lonely........and scared by all the F350's pulling up alongside asking if I want a ride in the truckbed!!

Hello. I am in Marietta, GA also. I am right across from the new highschool in the Carriage Oaks subdivision. I too have seen the Jose's mini along with the numerous beattles.
I have also seen an electric blue and white cooper S on polk street occasionally. And one parks with me at kennestone hospital.
I am expecting to get my CS in indi blue with white rims, roof, and stripes/ lapis blue intereior, loaded.... in Feb or march according to global imports atlanta.
I am really looking forward to getting together with other mini drivers and take Barrett parkway back from the wreckless teens in their civics. Hahaha....

Welcome to the board Chas!
Love your color choice! I've seen several Coopers in that color and every one of them look GREAT! Can't wait to see an S in Indi Blue.
Look forward to having you around.
Also... Thank you all for responding to this thread. It looks like we need to start planning some meets...
If anyone has ideas for places, drives, etc..... please post them here. I'd love to go ahead and get a few things in the works.
Happy Motoring,

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Ever since I saw the indi blue MC on the wallpaper that miniusa.com has, I fell in love with the color combo.
I know that there are many many places locally where I have seen various car meets, that were organized.
There used to be many in the old vacant parking lot on S. Marietta pkwy kind of across from the Cobb civic center. Also they still have them in the wendy's/publix's on the corner of dallas hwy and barrett pkwy. As far as drives, the whole dallas hwy or barret pkwy run is pretty good. Barret pkwy is a good long drive if you go from dallas hwy to canton road. I have seen many other car groups doing drives up and down this road. Recently I saw a mustang drive.
It really would be great to have a mini meet. Just to see all those mini's would be great! Seeing about 20 of them going down the road together would be pretty impressive!
Well, I look forward to getting my mini and seeing other's minis.

I'm in Jacksonville, AL. About halfway between Atlanta and B'ham on I-20. I've already started purchasing from RSpeed and dont even have my car yet. Expecting it by the end of October. It's presently at the VPC in Charleston.
Would love to get to know some other local MINI owners.

I'm in Powder Springs and have seen probably three MINIs around Cobb/Marietta. I have a Chili Red MC, Prem/Sport,Auto. I recently found about about a highway between TN/NC, Highway 129, about a 2 hr drive north of Atlanta, just above Murphy,NC. It has its own website :www.tailofthedragon.com. Sounds phenominal. Very popular on the weekends with motorcycle and performance cars. 11.5 mi, 318 curves, one intersection and no homes or businesses. Obviously designed by a DOT engineer that loves to drive. Looks like a perfect road to test the MINIs excellent handling.

A more fun road, IMHO, is the Cherahola Skyway, just North of Robbinsville, NC, which is also in the area. A 50-mile road that runs along the ridge of the mtns. The dragon is really tight, low speed curves, and the cherahola more flowing, high-speed stuff. Great view, and there's a good BBQ place at the end.
*Both are cop magnets* On the cherahola pay particular attention to any planes flying nearby
Jeff
ps: Hwy 129 in Georgia is fun almost the entire length. Start there.

Hey folks! Sorry it took so long to reply to this thread. Actually I thought I had!! We live in Midtown and we've had our PS/BLK MC (Carson) for about 2 months. He's been a great car and gets a lot of attention. Hope to see everyone here at one of our future MINI meets.
