Get Ready Germany....Gleep's on his way!!
Even though Gleep has "sorta" moved out of Florida...he's still a FL MINI freak. I just wanted to wish him a safe and fun trip to Germany. He's leaving Wednesday for 3 weeks in Deutschland. I don't think there is enough beer over there for him...
i'm just going to visit some friends and i'm going to a PHP conference in Amsterdam. maybe i'll remember more of amsterdam this time. last time was a little hazy...
i may find a job there, but probably not. i'm looking forward to wandering around the city. it's my favorite thing to do. atleast in london and paris i spoke the language and was able to find my way back to my apt. i don't speak a lick of german. i live on the edge! i try to blend in by pretending i know exactly where i am and refusing to read maps.

Had I thoroughly read Holly's post I would have gotten the answer to my question. Have fun, Gleep! And if you get a chance to get yourself presents....there is alot of cool MINI gear that they have over there that they don't have here. My friend went and got me a kick *** tee shirt that you can't get in the states!
Having been to Germany those bier steins can get expensive!
Where are you going in Germany? (I've been to Coln, Munich, Frankfurt and a few small towns.) Also in Holland, Vollendam is about 15 minutes outside of Amsterdam and is a very cool 'little' town as opposed to Amsterdam's size. Check it out if you get a chance.
Have fun and if you see some beer we can't get here bring it back!! I also, like you, am a beer drinker!

i have arrived! i got into germany yesterday morning. i took a cab to my friends apartment and passed out. i just couldn't sleep on the plane (which is unusual for me) so i was mucho exhausted. we went out last night when my friends got off work and had some pils (beer). i started taking pictures of stuff today so maybe i'll be able to get some of them posted here.
as for those things you want in amsterdam... i go there on the 8th so we'll see what i can arrange
i saw a MINI yesterday too outside a post office. it was red with a black roof.
ciao!!

I will be staying with some German friends in their town of Bremerhaven, on the coast north of Bremen. I'll spend a few days checking out Amsterdam and then drive back to Germany with them. Not sure where else we will go, but Denmark isn't far from their town. I come back on 6/5.
I'll probably miss the Downtown MINI BBQ and the Italian Job opening.

Bummer that you'll miss those things, but you'll be having a great time I'm sure. I'm not familiar with Northern Germany, but maybe Gleep will come back and give you some tips =)

I HAVE RETURNED!!! Well, to atlanta anyway. I'll be coming back to orlando next week maybe to work on my house and try to get it sold. unemployment ain't paying the bills....
i had a great trip. i saw MINI everywhere in germany and the netherlands. it was a great three weeks. at the end of it i thought i was sick of frankfurt and ready to come back to the states but now i miss it. it was so nice to be able to drive my MINI this morning though. i think it was glad to see me too. i took it out for a little 100+ mph adventure this morning. exhilirating.
tons of MINI and mini in frankfurt. lots of MINI being used to pull billboards around town too. very strange. i got some guff from a couple english blokes about it being a german car yadda yadda yadda.
i got **** drunk a lot. i mean... A LOT. i love it there. you can get completely **** faced, stumble to a bus stop, throw up in the street, **** in a bush then take a bus/tram/train/yak back your apartment and pass out in the hallway and nobody gives a ****. i also did a lot of drunken bicycling. you haven't lived until you've done that on a crowded city street at 4 am. the rush of adrenaline quickly moves all the alcohol left in your blood to your brain so you get completely **** faced on the way home. the first time i did it i could barely walk by the time i got to the apartment and i passed out face down in bed with all my clothes on and my keys in my hand. i think i may have somehow been holding a beer bottle the whole time but my memory is very foggy. we did have a few accidents and i got a skinned knee but i poured beer on it to disinfect it. one bicycle was trashed in the process as well.
