Adam and I have exchanged cell #'s so we can keep each other posted. Hopefully I have the plan straight. Is anyone else from Jacksonville going? Kat, I'll be going from J-ville as well but I have to stop off for some family business so I won't be in the caravan. I'm heading up 95 to 16 over to Macon and then up 75. This is a good group of folks your driving with, have fun and I look forward to meeting you at the Gap.

I'm staying at the Fontana Village. Not in the group cabin with Holly and everyone else but I got a room in the main inn for like $50 bucks I think.

 

I picked Microtel. No idea if it's a nice place or not, but for some reason, I got the idea thats where most people are staying. Who knows.

Oh, in some mapping programs that road comes up as "Oakleyrth Blvd" not Oakley. But it doesn't matter because once we hit exit 279 I'm sure we'll see plenty of Crack Bar signs.

 

Yucca Patrol, MINIclo and I (if I’m back in town in time) will be leaving from Yucca’s area in Birmingham, Al. If there is a place along the way all of us could meet, we could have the largest MINI caravan arriving at Deals Gap I know of.

Drop a PM to Clo or Yucca. Deals Gap will be MINI history and should be a blast making it.

Hi again. A guy named Paul from Atlanta is organizing a large caravan and it sounds like we'll be in his area at the same time. Is anyone interested in meeting them? I sent details to Holly and Adam via e-mail, just in case you want to. The train needs a red Caboose!

 

Hey Kat! Clo informed about the Atlanta caravan... I think it would be cool if we could all meet up somewhere near ATL and run the rest of the way together...

 

He has a nice scenic route all mapped out for the rest of the trip. He said we could meet in Woodstock, but he's hoping we can be there at 1pm. Which means we'd have to leave the outlet mall area closer to 9am rather than the planned 10am. Either that or drive really fast! I'm all for that!

I think we should try to organize a roll call for all the different meeing points.
Who? Where? When?
1) It's still Kesh420, zerocharisma, and me meeting at the cracker barrel on I-75 north of Lutz at 7:45am, or do we need to change to 6:45am? (see #3)
2) Has anyone figured out if and where we're meeting Holly and/or Katherine at the I-75/I-10 junction?
3) Who all will be joining up with the caravan at the Georgia outlet mall parking lot? Do we need to leave the outlet mall earlier than 10am? If so, all of us joining the caravan at earlier points need re-plan.
4) Finally... we are taking I-985 to US Hwy 19 (the scenic route) out of Atlanta right?

Did you see where there is a group out of Atlanta caravaning up?? Should we try to meet up with them? They are leaving out at 1...

 

I finally bought a Georgia Atlas. So now I can compare our route with the Georgia caravan. They are taking an entirely different route out of Atlanta, so it isn't likely we can meet up with them. I'm still on board with the schedule and Florida caravan plan.

 

Darn... Oh well...as long as we end up near Deal's Gap...lol.

FYI!! I emailed Bill K., the guy who has organized the various mountain road runs (aka The Mega MINI Mountaintop Hop,) and he said he WILL NOT have maps to distribute on Friday, showing the various routes. So grab as many NC/TN maps as you can if you want to partake in all of the festivities...

 

Hi folks,

The route the AtlantaMINIs are taking out of Atlanta is not only scenic but also the fastest way (if you do not take the "side trip" to the Cherahola Parkway, but the CP is one of the best scenic/twisty drives). The Cherahola ends about 5 miles north of Robbinsville (for those staying at the Microtel, hang a right) and about 20 miles south of Fontana (hang a left and follow the signs).

I live in Columbus, Georgia (100 miles from Atlanta) and will attempt to catch the Atlanta group (I'm leaving at 1:00 p.m.). If I see your group, maybe we can get together for the ride, so if you see a DS/DS MCS blur, flash your lights and I'll slow down!

I just got a phone call from 2minis. He is on his way to North Carolina for the Dragon Run. I am sorry to report that he got a speeding ticket and could not talk his way out of this one. So any one leaving tomorrow beware of TIFTON, GEORGIA. They are waiting for and looking for MINI's so watch out and slow down. 2minis reports the speed limit drops quick to 65 mph without much warning. Sorry no more details to report. :evil:
