Just got a MINI Cooper S - Midnight Black. My wife and I are looking for a club to participate with other MINIs. We like to go "motoring" whenever we can, and also would like to get involved in TSD rallies again.

What searching on the internet I have been able to do turns up very old stuff, nothing current. Is there a club in the Twin Cities that is active?

 

there is... 'Sota MINIs. most of the group lives is in/around the Twin Cities. they used to have a website.. but it got hacked awhile ago.

Are you on facebook?? thats where they are now, until they can get another site.. if you are, pm your email address to me and I can forward it to the admins.

I have joined Facebook just so I could participate in the group there. Both my wife and I are now members of that group.

Do the Sota MINIs have regular business meetings? Meet for breakfast? or whatever? When/Where?

Re. TSD rallies ... it has been a very long time. My wife and I did these when we lived a Calif back in the 70s, before moving to Minnesota. We had a good time doing so and would like to do that again, but I understand that they have significantly fallen off in popularity now

 

We used to do revolving monthly meetings, but the attendance got pretty weak. They could start up again! If there's anything you want to do, toss it up on the forum and I'm sure some MINIsota MINIs will join ya.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier. There are TSD rallies in MN, in fact there was one just last weekend put on by the Alfa club. I just posted another for Oct 24 on the SotaMini Facebook page. There will also be a winter series put on by the arrowhead sports car club out of Duluth. I will post events on FaceBook as they come up.

 

Sota Minis is the best! Some of us members often take spontaneous cruises around...

 

Was that a spontaneous cruise that stopped at the Prescott, WI Freedom gas station on Sunday morning? What is typically the cruise route/distance?

 

I know there was a short-noticed fun run that hit Hwy 60. It's likely it was the same group.
Fun runs can be spontaneous in our group with the route being whatever the organizer feels like driving. Some people post up their favorite routes and find a spot for lunch. I think this particular run was something in the arena of 5 hours? Including lunch.

 

Yep! Yeah we came down stagecoach road or whatever it is, crossed the river to Prescott and followed that road down to where Hwy 60 started and did some roaming around.

 

Hmmm maybe I'll have to get a Facebook account so I can find out when things are happening.

I saw you folks in the Prescott gas station. I was one of guys running the motorcycle ride starting at the gas station when you came through.

Allot of good roads down there.

I just found this! I'm so happy, I hope people still get together to motor around every once and a while. I'm always up for taking a cruise, send me a PM if you want to! I'm in the Minneapolis area, woot woot U of M! :D

The Minnesota club Sota MINIs is now called Minnesota United MINIs (M.U.M.). The new club combined the Classic Mini club called MMPE&PSHE (the Mini-sota Minis Pizza Eating & Psychiatric Self-Help Association) with the new MINI club called Sota MINIs.
