2014 Solo Results Thread - All MINIs

Is there anyone else who was thinking it'd be nice to have a compilation thread for all the events and results that are going to happen this year? For any class, not just HS DS STF STX etc. I know most of us have our own threads that we post in, but if we all at least copied the posts over into one compilation thread, we could see how everyone is doing all at once, and maybe draw in different viewers, people who didn't know about anything etc.?

If so, we can use this thread! Anyone who's got a result they wanna talk about or get feedback can post it in here, or even just a link of the result to their own thread, that way we'll all be able to go to one place this year to view and post results.

Sounds good to me. My thread is "An early start on 2014."

We have one result so far, event 1 in the wet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...=sharing#gid=2 I was 2nd and Cathy 4th in HS. Most importantly, I beat last years champion, who I've never beaten before.

Running XDS (PAX D-Street) this season on ZIIs. First event on March 16. Whoo Hoo! Could be cold and wet. At what temp should I ditch the ZIIs and go with my all-seasons? 40? 45?

i bet they'd still be faster than all seasons in that temp range, and even in wet. what do you guys call D-Stock? our region is using DS for the street class, and DSR for the r-comp classes

No D-Stock due to SCCA changes. D-Street get DS. The X is for an Open PAX grouping for those running in "under represented groups". Not much fun running against only 1 other car. So... everyone can join together into the Open PAX class for some fierce competition. Everyone goes head to head with their PAX factor. The winner of the group last year was a dang Civic SI. (I won 2 years ago.) Our times are always close, but his GS PAX beats me almost every time.
Anyone know how to legally mod out a panoramic sun roof or petition SCCA for a PAX multiplier for it?

We didn't do too badly around 45°F in December, with BFG Rivals. The front tires got up to a reasonable 80°, the problem was the rears which didn't get above 60°F. I later worked out if I'd let 5psi out of the rears, they'd probably heated up 10-20 degrees and worked even better. The BFGs did better than RE-11s 20 degrees warmer in the afternoon.

I wouldn't go to all seasons (Bertie's street tires are Conti DWS) unless it was near freezing and wet. Maybe 40°F or colder. If it were warmer than that and wet I'd go with our Conti DW tires (Algys street tires), they seemed to work even though they never got above 60°F in the wet. If its not wet I'd go with the summers and hope to get some heat in them, possibly running them down on pressure. The prolem with wet, apart from the water, is the tires never get warm.

We just did event 3: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...=sharing#gid=0

I'm first and Cathy 3rd in HS. I think I'm equal first in the championship when you take a drop into account.

I'm planning on making the first event in STL at the end of april before I graduate, then i'm moving over to the Madison region for work. I'm really excited to start the season but it does start really late here.

1st autocross of the season Sunday. Running Open PAX since there are no other D-Street players this year. We didn't have a test/tune day this year due to scheduling of the Starting Line School on Saturday.
I finished second! (This is VERY good for me.)
The new ZII's felt good. They seemed to want a few more lbs pressure than my ZI's from last year. 45 up front and 36 rear.
Tried left foot braking in my fun runs and came pretty close to my best time. That gives me hope that it may be the trick to better times in the future.
I'm very used to feeling planted in my seat with my CGLock and my left foot on the dead pedal. While left foot braking I felt loose in the seat. Is there a bolster solution for the left thigh to the door or some other way of getting more planted short of a Schroth harness?

Pretty sure Courtney Cormier is running STF in a mini he bought last year. Should be fun to watch him adjust from a SSP 'vette to a STF mini

It boggles my mind that folks can do that.

Boggled,

lol! yea.. first event for me is 3/29, probably getting bumped in with a pretty fast GS guy.. theoretically should be as fast but I have nowhere near enough seat time. Treating the first half of this season as "learning" (really the whole season, every season) so hopefully I don't get too discouraged. Locally, I should be doing pretty well though.

We just did event 4: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1041738008

In HS I came 2nd and Cathy 3rd out of 5. In first Brian was 0.983s in front of me, so even a mistake which I reckon cost me 0.88s would't have changed this. But this season is shaping up to be really interesting.

Good read on your thread. You guys are lucky about the weather. How many events total are you gonna do this year roughly?

Not sure who has been watching the Blytheville Pro Solo results but Craig Wilcox beat out the rest of STX by 1.9 seconds in a car that went together like last week.

I will be watching Craig's progress closely and wish him all the best. It will tickle me to death to see a competitive Mini in STX.

Cheers,

Charlie
