Marketplace suggestion...

I didn't look to see if this was already suggested, so forgive me if it's been brought up before...

How about a forum under 'Marketplace' titled 'Mini on Ebay' or something like that? I've been seeing many posts pointing out auctions on eBay. Personally, I like seeing this information. Others seem to take offense that forum rules are broke by not listing a purchase price (which is indeed a violation.)

In any case, this new forum would allow folks to reference their own Mini stuff for sale on eBay, or someone else's stuff they come across...

What do you think?

We've been working on a organization of the forums to accomodate the next generation of MINIs. I've included your idea in that plan so we will hopefully get it rolled out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the suggestion!

any chance you will load the 'iTrader' capability for vBulletin? I think this would go a long way to make the Marketplace a more useful tool for members.

This is something I've been looking into. I'm in the middle of some other site-related changes/improvements so once I have those in place I'll take a closer look at this.

One thing I think that needs to be changed about the marketplace section is all the wanted to buys. Could there be its own sub section for wanted items?

I'm not really in favor of creating a new set of WTB forums that would mimic the current organization. Have you seen a site that has done this and its been easy to use? I'm open to the idea if I can see how its been done well without lots of administrative oversight to keep things in the proper place. At face value though it seems that we would have to police it even more tigthtly than is currently done just to keep things in the correct places.

I believe the Anandtech.com forums also make good use of WTB... Not as a seperate forum, but within the buy/sell forum.

From my own experience on a Subaru site I moderate, the only downside I see to a separate WTB is that it gets about 25% of the traffic of the normal FS forums. A lot of threads languish there, but it does make the FS forum cleaner for buyers to browse.
