Cut and paste suggestion...

can you have the system strip all the [font=crap][size=2] stuff automatically during cut and past into posts? Sometimes it takes FOREVER to edit this stuff out by hand...

Real PITA, and a perfect thing for a automatic filter.

Hey Matt,

What are you cutting from?.. A lot of times it helps to paste things into Notepad first, then copy that and paste it into this editor box.. that should strip out all the Rich Text formatting.. Occasionally it also removes the line breaks too.. but that's easier to clean up than all the tags..

If you copy from Word and then paste into NAM it automatically brings in all the formatting that Word has done behind the scenes. The best way to compose in Word and get it into NAM is:

1) Copy from Word and paste into Notepad
2) Copy from Notepad and paste into NAM

Thanks!

You get those tags because you are copying text that carries with it unsupported font formatting.

You have a few options:
  • To strip the text formatting tags off, just hit the button before you post your text (it's in the upper left corner of the post box above the B for bolding. That should work, but depending on where you're copying from it may not.
  • Compose on NAM, copy out of NAM to word or whereever you're composing to check spelling (I assume) and then make corrections on NAM so you're not copy/pasting back into NAM.
  • Compose whereever you are, copy to Notepad (PC application), then copy from Notepad to NAM. Notepad will strip off the text formatting.
Without development those are your options. Currently there are several development items that are much higher in priority right now, so I wouldn't expect this to be addressed on the NAM side of things anytime soon.

Why do you compose in another word processor, Matt? We know it's not for the spell checker.

It's not for composition of what I write...

it's for cutting and pasting items of interest from other web sites and the like.

So true on the spelling though.... Been that way forever. I was put into a private nursery school with two other boys in my neighborhood so we'd all be put into first grade at the same time. The birthdays went over the cut off, but the school district would ignore that if you'd already been "laned". This school was very advanced and progressive. We learned the alphabet, and were learning to read.

Cut to public kindergarten. I had a petrified teacher (possibly even clinically dead) that said "Little boys play with cars and blocks. Little girls play with dolls. We don't do any reading here!"

Needless to say, I've never recovered.
