...all I was trying to say was, whether you like it or not, it will continue to happen, because there are users out there that have very little experience with forums and will roll right in and do it....
Don't get the wrong idea, I do ALWAYS search before I ask....but sometimes threads that are two years old have so many posts in them, it becomes quite difficult to find the answer you are looking for...often I find partial answers....and end up having to ask anyway...
Another problem, which could be emphasised in site guidelines, is the naming of threads....for example....when someone is asking about whether or not to get a promini or alta pulley, they shouldn't title it..."which one is better?"......how useless is that??
Next time I ask a question, I won't take it personally if you reserve the right to not post your thoughts...

Each existing question can have answers added to over time and not remain static, and new questions and topics can be added as they (inevitably) arise.
Greatbear, you have been very good at providing that same type of info ( helped me out too ). I think it's a shame to let it all get buried under repetitive questions that we see all the time till it just gets old.
Can FAQ be setup so that user input can be nominated to be included there rather than directly posted by members. It must be worth while to the knowledgebase or we will have a naming contest for that 800 pound gorilla.
FAQ Knowledgebase
I would like to hear more from kaelaria about guiding this effort. He did say he would help.

We always introduced them together at parties etc....
(no...I swear...it's a true story!)
Back OT...
...mini2 has a form of knowledge base in terms of general FAQ. Things like wheel data and model data are set up with stickies and are heavily moderated to keep them organised...it is useful.....but they tend to be rather basic....NAM is a far superior technical forum and a technical KB would be of great use....but moderator intensive in order to keep them organised and uncluttered....
Another problem occurs when threads are started in regional forums and are 'hidden' away from the rest of the community...(except of course, from the search function)....this is also heavily moderated...
Slightly OT again, but I have to say, on a side note, that the 'new posts' function on NAM is brilliant...

It's also akin to calling someone a 'boob', 'wally' or a 'dork'.....

I often forget that the threshold to offend in the US is a bit higher than Australia...we've got pretty thick skins down here with regard to how people speak....I'm sure you've all heard this before...

Quite often new users don't even know better....so no matter how much you rant about it, it will still happen to some degree - because I bet that new user wouldn't have read this thread!
The only only way to reduce that is to make the site guidelines very obvious and accessable to the NAM Virgin's eye...

That's what I've been thinking!!! When you need input from a total greenhorn, ask me.
Definitions help. I think of myself as an enthusiast. Keep technical bling install articles separate. And what's with the shorthand inside "joke" comments that I have to wade through? For those high gear experts who think we newbies haven't read everything and shouldn't post until we have, whatever. My goal of all posts is to help, inform, or ask stupid newbie questions.
