What happened?

This forum was always busy and full of new posts. Now it’s like a graveyard. Did all the traffic move to another site?

Actually I don't think it's too bad. I also belong to a Mustang forum, now that I consider dead.

FB is killing all forums, which is sad because material here can be archived and searched for later use. Im a moderator on r3vlimited and its dying, a recent update didnt help but there is a loyal base of an "older" demo so most of us are still there

These forums need to stick around. I don’t want a Facebook account, and have held off this long without one.

the wealth of knowledge here is crazy. I’m glad I got an 09, the aftermarket support and years of other people’s issue definitely helps owning this toy.

This forum is actually much more active than other MINI ones. The proliferation of FB groups has had an impact for sure.

I joined FB not long ago thinking I will hit a 1M subscribers, and from what I'm experiencing, FB is more like fishing! you have an issue, you through it out there and people respond. 50 people can cast the same issue and all of them will get feedback and it never ends. having said that, this forum is like a mega super store. almost everything is addressed and discussed. So while it may seem dead, people are probably searching this forum and finding their answers and off they go without necessarily participating.

when I did the N18 swap on an 07 justa, I had to make a new post for each step and people who saw the progress in the middle missed the beginning and were confused.. Here, it is like a book, but without the face....lol. I can make the story and go back an modify it and at any point you can trace the progress and see the full event.

one issue I have here is that not all new posts actually make it to the "new posts" page. I have to tap each section to see what's new, it's discouraging!

I agree with the part about a lot of activity not being "seen" as it where... I've been on here for quite a few months getting acclimated and only started posting just this week. The amount of information though I have gained directly and indirectly from here, and products I have purchased from sponsors/vendors here would make it a very active graveyard.

I read / respond / research this forum almost every day. Learn something new every time. Post my own wrenching experiences to help others hopefully avoid the head pain of fixing these cars and enjoy them more. Facebook can't provide that environment. I nuked my FB account in 2011 and never looked back. Totally worthless time suck.

+1 lots of info on this forum, use the search bar and the OEM part number and you will find info you cant find anywhere else. Also I am always here to answer questions or just talk about MINIs.

I like the NAM forum as we are focused on helping each other if possible.
Members and Vendors all working together.

Of the 4-5 forums I frequent NAM is far and away the most active*. FB and reddit have taken some traffic away but for the most part those users are just the fat skimmed off the top. From what I've seen these alternate platforms are just for posting sweet snaps of your ride and demanding instant information spoon fed to you instead of taking the first step for yourself. The dedicated and informative owners still come to NAM.

If NAM is an encyclopedia FB groups are a Hustler mag.

Just my $0.02

*Nevermind, VW Vortex is way busier, but also significantly less friendly.

I bought my R60 in early March I think, got it registered one weekend before Michigan Secretary of State went to appointment only for COVID-19.
Before I bought it, and since I've owned it, I've been on this forum and 2 other mini forums I was able to find. Of the 3 forums, this is the only one my posts have received a reply. The writeups and info on this forum, if printed, would be worth their weight in gold to me.

I've also been on jeepforum.com for YEARS and that place nowadays, might as well have tumbleweeds on the homepage. Still lots of good information you can search through there.
