New user problems I guess...
Problem #1: my signature doesn't appear on any of my posts, even though it's below the 300 character limit. It does show up in my profile, so I don't understand what the issue is.
Problem #2: I can find no way to keep track of threads I'm interested in. I can't find a "bookmark" function anywhere, although it occurs to me that I might be able to search posts for my username - although after I'm on this a while, that's going to become a real hassle. When I click on "My Account", there's two spaces called "Last 10 Comments" and "Last 10 News Submissions", but nothing ever shows up here.
Can anyone help?

Okay, that's just like a computer. My signature has magically started appearing in all my posts, although I changed nothing. I just went and modified it again, and now the new text is appearing in all my posts. So it appears that the solution to problem #1 is solved by posting on this forum!

Okay, looks like it was an ID-ten-tee error on my part. After searching the old threads, I find the answer to problem #2 - there is no way to do this! Although I do see mention that the upgrade should have happened around the jan-feb '04 timeframe. I take it this did not occur? No biggie, I really like this site, and much prefer it to other's I've seen, where you have to click between each individual posts. Much nicer seeing them all on one page. And the search function did indeed work.
So the question remains, are there still plans to eventually provide thread subscription capability? TIA. Also, what are those "Last 10..." things on my profile page for?

1) Thread subscription is coming as soon as this weekend.
The current software does not support thread subscription. So as you may have guessed, that long awaited, much discussed forum migration is being planned for this weekend.
2) The top 10 topics in your profile is a feature of the current software that wasn't used very frequently. It was for people submitting comments on the front page of the site. At anyrate, you're not missing out on anything, because that capability (what little there is) isn't being carried over.

re: Thread Subscription
Wooohooooooooooooooo
I've been bookmarking it in my browser, and even made a personal BRAIN web application to help me keep track of all the great threads!
Actually, while I know this isn't really likely to happen, I'd love for the capability that when you Create a new topic, it does a quick search to see if anything like that already exists, otherwise it allows you to create a new topic. There is a knowledgebase app that my webhost that does this when you submit a Trouble Ticket. It's pretty cool, although in my case, my answer is never answered, so I have to always submit a new one.
But in the case of NAM, where there are so many subjects that keep repeating over time, consolidation or semi automated topic grouping would be a welcome addition.
Just my 2 cents.

OctaneGuy: A F.A.Q. is on it's way (it will not be part of the migration), so look for that as more new features come online once we get over to vBulletin.

That's great news. Although if I had the ability to see the last ten (or so) threads I've posted to, that would be an awesome way of keeping track of things if I'm away from the net for a while. I can't wait for the thread subscription - bring it on!
