The last time it happened i was logged out when i hit the "Submit" button after typing in a post.. I have cookies on, and referrer logging on... help!

What version of Opera are you using on what O/S? I just tried to recreate your problem on verison 6.01, build 1041 on Windows 2000. I sent a post and stayed logged in. I also shut down opera altogether and came back to MCO and I was still logged in.

I had to re-login today (or was it yesterday?). I wasn't sure why.

I use ie 6.0.2600 and keep getting kicked off.
This is the first day its happened.

My wife's answer to it is "Maybe they don't want you on the site, you must be posting stuff too much".

Is she right???? Do ya'll not want me here?

hehehehehe

Cheers

I am using IE5 and just today started experiencing the same thing. I'm sure you can't tell from my relatively low number of posts, but I am on the site a lot and never had this happen before.

???

It is quite frustrating, especially after having gotten used to automatically getting logged in, having to check each time to see if I am either still logged on, or logged on at all.

Geez! This is getting very very irritating! Everytime I go to reply I have to log in again! Agh!

I've tried deleting the cookie so that it would generate a clean one, but that hasn't helped. Rebooted twice. Nothing doing.

Any ideas out there?

Mini2Go -

Does it ever happen when you use the back button in either IE or Netscape?

I haven't yet been able to establish any patterns. After seeing your question, I've tried navigating around and using the back button which didn't seem to log me out.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to determine exactly when I get "logged out." I'll be surfing along fine and then the next thing I know I can't access a "Member Only" feature like posting a message.

It doesn't make any sense, but it almost seems like a time thing - if I've been on for a while (i've been on almost all day today) I'll have to log in again. I imagine it has less to do with time than simply a particular action occuring at certain sporadically spaced intervals.

I'll keep watching to see if I can pick up on more details surrounding each logoff.

Everyone,
I had the same thing happen to me the other day but I was unsure what I did and have been unable to reproduce it. Would everyone watch for this to happen and post any ideas on how to recreate the problem. Nothing has been changed on the site recently that would contribute to this type of behavior. Thanks for your help in tracking this down!

Best regards,

Mark

Sfiveten,

Thanks!

BTW - I love your signature image with the headlamps on! Great touch!

Also, are those the oem roof racks?

Mark,

I was just logged in at the site, jumped over to another site via Internet Exploder, clicked back and was logged out. Running Win2K SP2 with all patches, IE5.0.

Mark I just got the same results as PDX_Mini posted - I followed a link on MCO to another site, and when I came back to the MCO window and went to a different page I had been logged off.

Using Win98SE, IE5

Hope this helps.

Mark,

I logged in last night (Saturday) and shutdown after jumping to other sites andforgetting to log off MCO – when I came back to the site this evening I was still logged on. After reading this post I logged off and logged back on and then after reading about 20 or 30 posts I opened a second session of IE when I came back to MCO I was logged out – though I’m not sure just when the log out occurred.

Win98 IE6.0.26

Hope this helps a little,

Vincent

Thanks!
Yes.... it has the OEM roof rack on top. I used the config tool to make it up then added the lighting effects in photoshop.

Web Guys:

For the last day or two, I've also noticed being logged out. However, I'm still able to post replies in the forums. Hope this tidbit helps in your troubleshooting.

I get logged out too... using XP with MSN Explorer. Not a big deal though, all I have to do is log back in. Only really logs me out if I leave the site for awhile.

ok, now it has happened to me....

got here from my favorites. what I did find strange is that there wasn't a cookie for https://www.northamericanmotoring.com in my cookies folder. I accessed the site at about 10:50PM PST. When I logged back in, the cookie reappeared at 10:57PM PST.

here is my particulars, if it helps:
Win2k SP3
IE 6.0.2800.1106
Connection type: DSL (Verizon...not AOL).

Maybe time-out settings for the cookie? I'm not familiar with php, but with Cold Fusion I know when setting a cookie, you can specify time-out and delete.

just a thought
EDIT...was browsing MCO with 2 windows (one from navigating here, and the other from a link), closed one and hit the 'back' button on another and I was logged out. Closed IE and came back, was still logged out.

I hate to be a squeaky wheel about this, but I am still having this problem. I have been logged out numerous times this evening WITHOUT going to other sites and coming back.

It still isn't adding up to me what I might be doing the same each time to cause it. I do move around a lot within MCO using the back button and going from one forum to the next, but it never seems to be the same thing twice.

I love the site, I'm just frustrated. After I've been reading along and finally come across something to post a reply to, then I get the error that says I'm logged in as Anonymous. At that point I have to log in and go back to find the post I wanted to reply to.

I don't need to leave to a different site to be logged out (as a matter of fact, i'm always logged in when I hit the main page..).. but it will even let me reply to a post, and then when I hit submit, it's forgotten that i'm logged in... I just log back in, hit the back arrow, and then i can submit my post...
