"Naming" a link: how is this done?
I would link to place a link to another thread in MCO, but rather than paste in the long link I would like to have it appear in the post as something like, "look here". I know how to cut and paste the link into a posting, but how would I substitute a given text for the whole link pathname?
Thanks.

Do you mean something like this?
If so all you need to do is this:
1) Click the URL button below
2) Enter the URL you want the link to go to and click OK
3) Enter the title of the link. In the above example this would be "this". Click OK
4) Once you do this you will see something similar to the following in your message before you post it (the {} will be replaced with []'s)
[code:1:05a3f3aedc]
{url=www.teammco.org}this{/url}
[/code:1:05a3f3aedc]
That should be all there is to it. Let me know if you need any additional assistance.
Mark

Thanks, Mark. Once I understood you meant click the URL below the message body it worked as anticipated.
Any recommendations for online or book resources for the uninitiated to learn what those little codes mean?

As goofy as it sounds, I just clicked on each one and tried them all out. I would copy the properties of a photo and then I'd try out the IMAGE button. I'd hit BOLD and see what it did to my letters, etc... I have to admit it took me quite a few times to get the IMAGE size correct so the photo didn't take up the whole screen of the computer.
If I were you, I'd go over to the "Off Topic" area and post your photos, URLs, etc... in answer to the questions there. You can post photos of your pets, favorite foods, etc... funny places you've seen on the internet as URLs, etc... You can try it all out there!
After the smiley faces, I use the URL and IMAGE buttons the most.

Or you can use the
test forum, which is actually intended for this purpose.

Yeah, before today I had never played with those buttons. I saw what the first row does, but the second row is a mystery.
...and the test area is, indeed, the place to try stuff out, which I did.
