The Post Count
Which is why it would be a good idea not to show the post count. As was said, the "Gear" status of someone gives insight into their experience in NAM. We don't really need a post count, do we? I sometimes post one or few word posts and few of mine are long. But, I don't do it for the post count. Nor does a short post necessarily equal an unimportant post. For example, several posts that include nothing but a "+1" show that a particular point expressed is agreed with in the community, as opposed to just one poster's opinion.
I am not a post count fluffer & could not care less what my # is nor do I judge people based on their post count. Plus if you hide the post count & a noob asks some question that has been asked a million times already I am not very likely to answer it as politely since I will have no way of knowing that they are a noob. I think NAM works just fine the way it is now
But I digress as this has nothing to do with what the OP was asking

...What I'd also like to see is a statistic of "# of words per post", because it doesn't take much to reply to a thread with a one-word answer like "Yes", and have it be another post in the count. However, a well thought-out and expressed reply, many paragraphs in length, is a different matter...
P.S. Bama is a closet post count fluffer.
