Time to let you all know that we will be Tagging along behind the British Car event that is meeting up at the Horizon Casino in South Lake Tahoe on the 10 of June. This is a planned event by that group who are having their annual meetup. We will be leaving the rear parking lot of the Horizon after 930 am. Their group of British cars are leaving at 9am. Their ride will be up and over Kingsbury grade into the Carson Valley. They will drive north on Foothill/Jacks valley road, enter Carson City and head east on hiway 50 go up and Visit Virginia City. A final decision if we stop has not been made yet. We will drive gieger grade leaving V/C and go to hiway 395. At that time we will depart their planned route and head north into South Reno for a planned lunch . It will be a FUN day for all. Glenn

 

So, that said I think if we could have the Reno Mini's meetup together and drive to Carson City and then meetup with Lisa and her crew that would be the way to get to me in south Lake Tahoe. I think a departure time in Reno could be 730am drive to carson city. depart C/C around 8:15 and arrive in South shore around 9 or 9:15. The departure from the Horizon is very flexible. Since we are NOT paying to be a part of this event like the others who are meeting there we should stay at a distance during the ride. Again, we are welcome,just not a paying group. The Reno Bristish Car Club is leading this ride and i know several members. I think seeing all those British autos driving through the area will be quite a sight. Glenn

 

errrrr... too bad I will miss it! Going to drive through carson city et al on my way to Vegas, but around the 18th-19th of June. Have fun!

P.S. Any suggestions for "must motor" roads in that area? I'll be coming down 395 from the north- I've driven down that way once before. This time we're looking for ghost towns...

What time and where are you meeting up in Reno? I'd like to try to join you guys and maybe drive down to Carson with you. Then, I'll have to turn around and head home for work.

 

I would like to hear from the Reno Mini group on what time they wish to get together. As stated, pehaps departure time could be at 7:30 to carson city. glenn.....should take 30 min. for that part of drive down...

 

EZRA360, are you passing through our area or staying in the Reno area? mayvbe we could meet with you before you depart. glenn..others know the area better then me and could advise you on Ghost towns

 

7:30am is fine with me (Roads should be a PLEASURE!)...I would come down Mccarran from Caughlin ranch area (actually on the other side of McCarran in the NW)

any idea on where is convenient...? Krispy Kreme (near 395 if that works for all) is fine or any other location...do not know where Renomojo and Weaveeg are coming in from....I am in NW Reno and can get about anywhere that works for all Just no more I-80 plz...My windshield and bonnet are a mess from the rocks...Hopefully my driving Lamp covers will arrive before we go!!!!

There are quite a few new Minis I have seen of late...left a card on each parked one I saw (for referral to Lisa or Glenn but no takers) (Maybe it is my Mini's color!) Maybe I will use Photoshop and put a Mini MONSTER TRUCK on the Card!

I live near Caughlin ranch and would go up and over McCarran. I wouldn't mind meeting at Krispy Kreme on McCarran and Kietzke. I've been craving a donut and coffee for quite some time now.

 

Reno minis could meet at Krispy Kreme. 7:30 leave for Carson . Mills Park is on 395 and Williams which is hwy 50 east a mile or so. I will be out on the grass as there is a Rendevous Days going on there that weekend and I will flag down any mini I see. Watch for the crazy lady jumping up and down..........hee hee hee. we have fun. I didn't advertise this run due to running out of time and the fact that the british car club may not like us tagging along?????? I won't advertise Lake Shasta run either but i will advertise the USS Hornet run in July. The little cards do just fine Jeff, don't take it personally. I even have had a mini cooper NOT wave to me. Some people are just stuck up and they don't deserve a mini. Maybe they inherited it.I really want to meet everyone new and have a bigger attendance by October 31 as I plan on putting our club in the Nevada Day parade. But only the people I know as we will be driving very close to each other and we will have to practice some menouvers for that.Just a future thought.These are the kind of things we discuss at our stops on our runs.See you all soon. A lot of our new arrivals in Reno are from you know where....just unfriendly and this stuff just rolls off my back! Would like to capture a few for you though!!

SOUNDS LIKE IT'S KRISPI KREME AGAIN IF IT IS OK WITH GLEN AND THE OTHERS! For some reason I thought Renomojo was from Tahoe! <damn...first I call her a guy...then have misplaced her....BAD!>

BTW: Renomojo....Mr. Econ from the group says that 2 dozen donuts will definately fit into the mini's trunk!!!

Don't know about wine and donuts though...How about wine flavored donuts? Could be onto something with that!

Talk about unfriendly...I am from NY about 30yrs ago (escaped!!!) Those people are the Kings and Queens of rude...but there are always some nice ones mixed in! After 30yrs here...I feel just about like a native..

It is amazing how many Minis I have been seeing though...Maybe before I had one, I just never looked!

It is up to you to get to carson city. I am in Tahoe and will meet the group at hiway 50 and 28 above Spooner Summit in the Parking lot. From there i will lead the Mini's to the Horizon.Casino.... Glenn.....Remember to bring your Radios set at channel 7 sub 21
Krispy Kreme sounds good as a Reno meeting point, You decide how early so as to depart by 7:30

 

Unless someone objects,,,We will meet at Krispi Kreme at 7:30am...objections...someone yell ow! PLZ.

I'm down for meeting at Krispy Kreme...but I'll try to get there a little before 7:30 so I can get my doughnuts and meet some of you. I haven't forgotten about the wine...

I've noticed a ton of MINI's lately too. I wave at everyone in a MINI and flash my lights if they aren't paying attention. I almost crashed the other day trying to flash my lights/shift/turn/wave all at the same time...I've only had one person not wave at me.

The Nevada Day parade would be fun! We should make costumes for our MINIs. Maybe they could be little mice or bumble bees... We could throw out candy to the crowd!

I have 2 antenna toppers on order...1 is a bumble bee (plates=BUZZ U2) and the other is "the finger" Neither of which will stay on while I am not there to guard them!

 

Hey ezra360......I live in Carson City. You are welcome to call me when you get in. 775-888-9822 I can take you up a few hills for a killer view of the city or just let you know good places to eat. You have a long drive, I respect that as i have not gone that far YET in my mini. Cheers, Lisa

Are we getting ready for the weekend MINI's ? We should be seeing plenty of British auto"s. Saw my first Austin Healey on the way through stateline area today. Drove around to the back of the Horizon casino and they have it all roped off for there event. Weather will be GREAT. Will do one more Post late friday. Motor On Mini"s. Glenn

 

My MINI is getting dressed for the occaision. I'm getting a bonnet swoop added tomorrow...hope it turns out okay! I'm excited to meet all of you on Saturday, I might even drive up to the Lake with you...work can wait!

Ok, just got word, can't make it this trip. Had some family come into town and I have to drive them around. I'm going to see about getting out of it, but I wouldn't count on me for the run. Actually, I'm probably going to go to Tahoe, but not in my MINI... damn it! I'll keep an eye out on the thread for the details if I can swing it. Sorry Jeff -- looking forward to meeting you!

It's Saturday morning and i am checking in. Hope everone is ready for a fun day. Since the run is starting early it also should end by early afternoon. I again went by the Horizon on the way home friday and met with a few Austin Healey owners in the parking lot.
