Wecome to Sierra Nevada Mini Coopers new forum,thank you North Amercan Motoring. Our club caters primarily to those living in Northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe region. We want to welcome all Reno, and Carson Valley Mini Cooper owners to Join us. This is an informal club with no dues, attorney, or liabilty insurance. Participation in group events is definitely at your own risk, therefore all drivers must have adequate insurance and a valid drivers license. Unsafe driving is not encouraged or endorsed.

Glen, right on!! We were just up there last weekend man.I need your # so I can let you know the next time we go up. We go to S. Lake just for the drive all the time.....oooh forgot to mention it's usually in the Geo. gotta save my baby from all the harshness man.

 

On behalf of the southern portion of the state ( Sin City MINI Club) we welcome you to the state. It's always a good thing when we have friends in one of the most beautiful parts of the nation. I would like to plan a weekend for our two clubs to meet up in your area sometime next year possibly in the May time frame when the snow is about gone so we can do some driving around the Lake Tahoe area. Please feel free to contact any of us if you need anything from down here.

Well now that i got that out of the way i wanted to let you know about an upcoming event planned by our Lady in charge Lisa. The event will be on Nov. 13th. We are planning a drive around Lake Tahoe, weather permitting.I will let you know we are meeting in Carson City, 9am in the parking lot next to the Community Center at Mills Park on hiway 50 east. The plan is to take Spooner summit up to the Lake. Then either hiway 28 or 50 around Tahoe. The reason i am not sure is the weather may dictate the route. Please check back again as the we get closer to the 13th. So far we have around 6 Mini members and will be growing as the word gets out. OK Reno Minis nows your chance to do stuff in our area of NO. Nevada. Please chime in and lets make this a club we can be proud of. I know we have some great roads to Motor on. Glenn

 

Still learning to navigate. As of this date we have no site but NAM. I know that will change in the near future. I know by March i will have a group coming down to AMVIV.So far i am the old guy in the group. Most have 05 minis, so this is special to be able to introduce new wide eyed owners to our community.

 

Just wanted to clarify, how this all got started. I was on my Mail route in carson city. There was a post in the community calendar about a meetup of mini owners. I made contact and met with Lisa, she passed on the names she had gathered on owners in our area. I said i would try and contact NAM to help us. I also contacted Zied at redwood empire. I thank him for his direction on making contact. I am doing this start up job because i love this car and the people who have a MINI. JUST WANT TO HELP. Glenn

 

Glenn I am so happy that a club has finally started up in the Tahoe area (so you don't have to always drive so far for a run). Another NorCal-NV club is established ... I expect your new club will be encouraged to participate in runs from clubs in both states with Tahoe as a destination.

When you are ready to get your domain name and set up a website, feel free to call me for help or ideas. I will be emailing you soon with info as we discussed.

I am so happy to know others love thier mini as much as I do. I am jazzed about starting this club. My twin Glenn has really opened my eyes to the great opportunities a group will offer.I got two more members for our first run. See you at the Lake.

Put me on the list.......not sure if I can make the 13th, but am always up for run when time permits. I've on the Mt. Rose Highway and also out to Virginia City to Carson City last June with the MINI.....very coooool as long as you don't backed up behind slow pokes.

If you don't already have a web host organized, talk to Mark from NAM. He's a real nice guy and took care of the Sin City club when I moved our ISP recently.

Hey Glen,

Great to see that your group is up and running well. Please keep Jessica & I advised of any "runs' or events you have planned. We'd love to come up to Tahoe for a run.

We will be heading for Shasta this weekend so we won't make your run, but we will try to make all the rest.

Have a great Thanksgiving and we will see you in Las Vegas if not before.

Hope you are planning on coming down for some of the REME events. We missed you this weekend on the WIndsor to Cotati run.

Hey, Glenn, we are up for a run to the beautiful Tahoe area! We will be joining Howard and who-ever else in Newcastle on the 13th, and meeting up with you all in your neighborhood.

We havn't been on a group run in ages!

 

This is great news. Thanks Glenn for getting this going. I hope to make it on Sunday, maybe I'll even take the snowshoes off for the weekend! Can't wait for the final info.

Thanks to Lisa for flagging me down to tell me about the new Mini Cooper club. My wife and I are looking forward to our first excursion with other Mini owners in the area this Sunday.

 

I flagged down two more and got one from my work!!!! I am so jazzed about starting this. We will meet november 18 friday at 6pm at Q's in Carson City.I want to do a Toys for Tots run in Reno for December. I also want info on roof decals. I'm thinking of a rainbow! See everyone sunday. Lisa

 

Well, i hope you are ready for Sunday. Did a last drive today. It was around 80 miles. So here is what you need to know. Minis coming from Sacramento via hiway 80 will meet at the north Y of Lake Tahoe. Thats the Albertsons super market parking lot 100 River Rd. corner of hiway 89 and 28 north shore. Those who are coming via hiway 50 from sacramento can meet us at the parking lot at hiway 50 and 28 in Nevada at 930 am.Take a left turn on to 28 and then the first left into the parking lot. For those starting in Carson City, please arrive by 9am at the Community Center parking lot east side, thats next to Mills park. That address is 851 e. william st. Please arrive with a full tank of gas. If you have a FRS/GMRS radio we will be on channel 7-21. The morning of the ride i will have my cell phone on, it is 775-781-0184. We will arrive in Tahoe city around 1045. Greet the other drivers then continue on the run. Will will stop for lunch at the Firesign cafe hiway 89 in Sunnyside. After lunch we head down 89 towards the south shore past Emerald bay through the stateline via hiway 50 through cave rock back up towards spooner summit again. Glenn
