Nice!

I think I liked it better unpainted though

Looks good! I like the size, although I prefer the flexible helical type, which I couldn't find anywhere, at least not for cars. They're typically for two-way radios.

I wonder about the reception, too.

I haven't noticed any change in reception AM or FM. Shrashmere it was quite easy to make. please post if you make one.

I have enough material to make about 10 of these If anyone is interested I can powder coat them as well. How about $15 +SH

Nice job. If you make a bunch of them you send them out to be anodized.

Put me down for one if you make them. I'd prefer anodized, but powder-coated is fine too - satin black if possible. Thanks!

PS - How about a little accent near the taper - perhaps a groove or two, just to make it visually a bit more interesting? I'm thinking something SUBTLE, like a few MM deep and wide. Don't know how much that would affect your production costs/time though... just an idea.

Wow at $15 I'm tempted, even though I don't care how the antennae looks...

Iv worked with lathes a lot and it is super easy to get crazy with the design.
I was thinking satin black, and then some grooves with red on the inside of the grooves.

I too have the material to make many.

I'd not want any interior color in the grooves - just the actual marks. I agree it's super-easy to go from "elegant" to "eye-watering" with additions, and the thing that makes this design work it its simplicity IMHO.

Wow I didn't think there would be this much interest. This weekend I will make 5 more maybe 10 if I find time. I will powder coat 1 take pics so you can decide if it looks good enough. I will also get a quote for anodizing.

ImagX, A few grooves is no problem. How many? rounded or square? How close together?

informal list so far,
1. ImagX
2. XsproutX
3. thulchatt
4. iblack

BTW this is for a R53 1st gen MINI. Payment will be paypal

Thanks,
Kyle M.

Just be careful that you know who you're selling to. I say this because someone is liable to take your design and badge it as their own. Be sure to steer clear of selling to folks with the names Sean, Carol, Deiter, Palo, or Sir Patrick; these could all be aliases though.

BTW, nice job!

How about 2, square, the thickness of a dime, a few MM apart, right where the main "shaft" tapers out into the base? Just something simple... Thanks!

PS - I'll be traveling for work starting today but I'll be back Friday and I'll be checking on and off, so just let me know wher eto send money and I'll Paypal you. Thanks!!

Update

If you all are still interested I have 5 antennas made, but uncoated. I will try to powder coat them by Wednesday. If you just want them painted or raw aluminum I can mail them Wednesday. The powder coat is flat black it's a good match to the antenna base.

Kyle.
