The Blue Book value on a 2005 M/C/S in "perfect condition" as you state yours to be in, is $5800. You're saying that fixing the tranny on this car is going to cost upwards of $5800?
You need to find a new mechanic.

Because this "vendor" is more interested in chopping it up for dollars rather than preservation of a car with only 82k on the clock that someone else would take on and fix. Check history of vendoe -- all "COMPLETE Partouts" of low-mileage cars.
The Blue Book value on a 2005 M/C/S in "perfect condition" as you state yours to be in, is $5800. You're saying that fixing the tranny on this car is going to cost upwards of $5800?
You need to find a new mechanic.
