Why not just fix the transmission? Car looks to be in very good shape otherwise.

Because repairs will cost more than the value of the mini.

Because this "vendor" is more interested in chopping it up for dollars rather than preservation of a car with only 82k on the clock that someone else would take on and fix. Check history of vendor -- all "COMPLETE Partouts" of low-mileage cars.

The Blue Book value on a 2005 M/C/S in "perfect condition" as you state yours to be in, is $5800. You're saying that fixing the tranny on this car is going to cost upwards of $5800?

You need to find a new mechanic.
