R50/53 The "Can't Wait for Feburary Club" arrives!
Just a heads up for those in cold weather, went to add a bottle of "Heat" to the gas tank (8 deg F this morning). Inserted the plastic neck and it started to spill out, down the beautiful BRG metallic paint. NO! Note: There's a metal flapper valve which I had to depress with a long screwrdiver to open the flow path, then poured in the "Heat" w/o issue.
Back to motoring. Love it. The looks. The acceleration. Yes, given these terrible Michigan road, the 17" runflats were a non-issue. Also, the H-K sound system - Led Zep never sounded better (beats my old 8-Track).

FINALLY
!!! Add me to the "graduated" list. Picked up my MCS at Peabody around noon yesterday. Some friends awaiting their own MCS came up to watch (their kid's first word was MINI!). Spent the afternoon giving people rides (4 grown adults DO fit almost cofortably in the thing). Off to tool around this afternoon before some more snow hits the Boston area tomorrow!
Thanks to all for their stories and support during the wait!

Congrats on the MINI...Enjoy it.
Can I ask, [since my first word was "Duck" and since then (and the nearly 30 years post, I've been flooded with ducks ever since)]... will this child be given the stuffed MINI? Perhaps a Mini for her 16th birthday? Maybe she will have the love for the MINI that I have for ducks...which would be scary (ask the husband, he's frightened by it.)
And yes, for the record, I also have my stuffed MINI.
Congrats on the MINI...Enjoy it.

My friend's child is a boy, and he already has the plastic MINI you can sit on and ride around. His father said that his proudest achievement is that the child can now actually steer the thing around the house and not hit anything. I suggested that they set up cones in the hallway and teach slalom skills immediately!

Great plan...wonder if that's how the great rally drivers began?

>>>>hey Needler! did you check out that dealer checklist from db's web site?
>>
Hi,
I did get the checklist. I'll probably annoy the hell out of my motoring advisor. I may not check EVERYTHING out, but it will be close.
Think I'll sleep tonight?? NOT!!
>>Dominicminicoopers, anything get resolved yet or still number crunching. I was almost in a similar boat, so I definitely can sympathize. Again, keep the faith, brother.
Thanks for asking!
hahah not even close. I still have to buy a plane ticket to NY with a 2 week heads-up so most likely I'll be picking up my car around March 3-7th some time. All because of the ****-slow VPC process in NY (no idea if my car is even at the VPC yet, it wasn't thursday).
I do find it funny that the owners section of the MINI website is so slow in updating information. You'd thing one of their first priorities would be to reduce call volume by making sure the online website had the absolute latest information available. I'll be calling them Monday to check progress, as I have been every day of last week.

TonyMcGuire: I'm so sorry to hear about your car!
I'll call in the AM incase they go home early.
Also, I just went back to the WW website, for kicks. They added a new line to my car tracking. It had been unloaded from the vessel on 2/9/03, which I knew, but then it said "Delivered From New York" on 2/10?!? This was a surprise. Ask MINI said on Friday evening that it was still not entered into the VPC. Could Ask MINI be off and the car is really already working it's way through the VPC? Or is the dock parking lot offsite, so it's shipped from WW, but still not admitted to VPC.
Everyone stay safe this weekend. With all this snow hitting and stuff hitting both coasts over this weekend and week, let's keep the Club Feb drivers and cars protected.

Hi everyone!!
Congrats to SMMVK on getting your MINI Saturday - thanks for the detailed updates and happy motoring!!
It turns out the money we were going to put down never made it to our account on Saturday (as it was supposed to). After talking to the dealer yesterday, I wrote a check and finalized the paperwork rather reluctantly. The dealer told me to pick up my car on Monday and after persisting, I agreed. Naturally Monday would be a bank holiday and I wouldn't be able to get everything straightened out and have one more day to brood about it all. All I know is, the check I'll be writing for a downpayment had better not bounce..
BTW, Kohu'ulaMINI, OL updated my order today saying that it was at the dealer (which it is) and the EDD was moved back to Friday the 14th. Huh? It was showing the 15th which was slightly more accurate. I think they hired monkeys (incompetent, at that) to update the EDD.

>>Just curious, why purchase extra warranty? Isn't 4 years or 50K miles long enough?
-----------
When I picked up my MCS on Saturday, the subject of extended warranty came up. Its maximum is 5 years and/or 100K miles. So to get the extra year and 50K miles was a cost of $1400. The cost reduces as you back off on the miles or the year. Note: Extended warranties are not through MINI. I chose not to take the X-Warranty, yet can get it anytime up to 10K miles at an elevated cost.
Also, with an extended warranty there is one new advantage that I've not hear of before; warranty work at less than 50K and/or 4 years can be covered by the extended-warranty policy at non-MINI dealers. May be something to consider given the 230+ miles from the nearest dealer. My 1st thought was how would a non-MINI dealer even if it’s a BMW dealer either get MINI parts nor know the diagnostics,...

That PW/PW is gorgeous! Usually I don't like white cars. That red interior makes it.
I'm in the VPC, according to the OL, which means I'm probably on the truck to the dealer, 'cos the OL is always behond!

Beautiful, MiniCD! Cool combination, interior and exterior.
Thanks for sharing the pix. I had not seen a Mini with the roof rack system minus the rack. When the rack gets put on, please post another round of pix.
Motor on!

>>I hope you can hold out 'til Tuesday
I got the extra warranty because I plan on keeping my baby for life. I thought that it could pay off because I know I've had mechanical problems in the past with other cars right after the warranty has expired. It's a pretty sweet deal - 7 years/100k miles. And, my in-laws kinda encouraged me to do it.

Have been watching the weather channel like a fiend. Had been hoping to pick up my MINI on Fri, 21 Feb, but things do not bode well. The whole NE is supposed to get more snow/rain/ice for the next 5-7 days. Looks like my vehicle was not transferred out of the VPC and I seriously doubt that Leaseway is transporting in this weather. Add all that to the closure of Ask-MINI in OH and you get the unmistakeable conclusion that...someone hates me!!
Crap!!!! What must I do to appease the MINI gods????
