m7 AGS

Does anyone have pictures of this intake? Installed or not.
I don't see how m7 expects people to buy or preorder it without seeing it first.Maybe i'm just weird...

...the question is, what's in the tank located where the stock air filter once was? Water? Or some 'other' liquid for reducing intake temps??? Yea baby!!!

Water and/or alcohol (of the denatured variety) that can be had at Home Depot by the gallon... The addition of real estate is a plus!

Questions about the AGS:

- Is the surface area of the filter less, the same or greater than the K&N or Alta filters?
- Does the filter require cleaning and/or oiling?
- If so how frequently under normal driving conditions?
- If not, is the filter a paper / replaceable unit?
- If replaceable how much do replacements cost and are they generally available or must they be ordered from M7?

you are right. IT is one of the next products coming out. There are pics of it in other threads, can't remember which one though, you will see a blue tube going into the IC. Not sure of the M7 title for the product but that is basically what it is.

So here's a dumb question..(bound to send people into fits of rage)..is the M7 AGS just some sort of fancy cold air intake? If so, how does it work in when compared to, say, the Alta intake? If not, then what is it?

I believe that I took those photos and the tank has nothing to do with the AGS. It is actually a water injection system.

The tank is indeed for injection purposes, and it could be either water or alcohol. I believe it will be triggered by boost, at let's say 10 lbs, and I think it will be user definable. It will have an on/ off switch to manually control it also. Peter's been working fairly hard on making this into a MINI specific install so it should be plug & play for us  .

It is fancy in that it is the first one to address the goofy pipe between the throttle body and supercharger.

If M7 would post some side by side pictures it would be very easy to see what the AGS is all about.

Tony,

You are right, we are running alcohol in there now, the injection is programmable based on boost. We have it set a lot lower than 10psi now, but I think I will raise it back up, maybe higher than 10. The system is only there to prevent detonation at higher rpms, so I don't think it is necessary to inject lower in the boost cycle. We will prove this out on the dyno in the next two weeks trying different start points and see what it does to the power curve.

The point is trying to prevent the dip we see between 6000 & 7000+ rpms when the MTH map we are running puts in so much timing advance that the computer senses detonation and pulls the timing back and dumps in more fuel. I believe there is quite a loss of HP happening in this range.

That is what this system is for, HP loss avoidance.

And you really can use that here in California where the highest normal octane you can find is 91, without resorting to "Race Gas" $$$

Bill

We will have some scrumptious studio photography done next week.
I wish I could do it faster, but I was invited to Hawaii by Eastsidemini
to do an AGS install, and a show and tell with our new products.

On a side note, there is no comparison between the two tubes, the cross sectional area is much larger, with no power robbing turns or intrusions.
And the lenght of the tube (approx 4" shorter then stock) was designed to give fantastic throttle response.

Have you guys run the AGS on a stock 05 without software upgrades?

I'm just wondering what the results/benefits are without it.
