My R55 has HID headlights and factory fog lights. Right now the DRL (daytime running lights) are the low beam headlights. As these LED fog lights provide DRL functionality, is there any reprogramming of the car's computer necessary to get the DRL function out of these lights instead of the low beam headlights?

 

What are the low beams on our R55? My DRL is my HID headlight. There is no difference in brightness
Id like my fogs to be my DRL if I can get that done

 

Can you include the shipping for Toronto, Ontario (Canada) as well? If so, I am interested

Also, do you have better pictures or real life pics of how they actually look on a Mini?

 

fastNugly, the low beams on my R55 are HID headlights, the high beams are brighter or refocused HID headlights, the DRL are the low beam HID headlights (same as the low beam HID headlights, no difference in brightness), the parking lights are a small light bulb in the fog light, and the fog lights are a bigger/brighter bulb in the fog light (both not HID). I can use the fog lights at the same time as the low beam HID headlights.

Here's an excerpt:
"You replace the whole stock fog lamp assembly with the LED fog lamp assembly and it goes like this:

1) when headlights are off, you get halo DRLs
2) when headlights are on, you get the "brow" top section lit
3) turn on fogs and you get the center and "brow" top section also with it."

So it seems that this kit can essentially give you DRLs from your fog lights like you want. The only other way I've heard to get your DRLs to be your fog lights or your parking lights (using the stock fog lights) is reprogramming your car's computer: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...beginners.html

That's why I am asking if this LED foglight kit can simply be installed or if it requires reprogramming the car's computer.

There is no programming needed. It is a solid LED unit with no replacable bulbs. The car must have come from the factory with fog lights to install this kit. The DRL in this kit would be the "halo" part of the light.
