Drivetrain ETA on DOS CAI
I knew that each part adds to a whole. Colder air in... better flow of air in and out makes for a happier engine. I knew that each individual part would not give me the kick in the pants that many imagine. My idea was to make my engine flow/breath as best it could in preparation of a tune. Without a major rebuild, I think I did well. Working on the whole, I made these changes concurrently with suspension upgrades. Without dropping major coin (relative I know), I believe that I have made the Dread Pirate into the best Mini he could be.
Im wanting to purchase an air intake for my JCW R60 but am waiting to watch a video of the DoS intake. Does anyone have a youtube video they would not mind sharing? I want to get a better understanding of how much (or little) noise it makes.
While I don't have any more of a clue where Clint is than the rest of you, I do know that he was taking an extended leave of absence from the store to spend time with his family.
From what we talked about, it was eating into his family life quite badly, and he desperately needed to step back and take some time to be with them.
I believe he had also recently had another baby not long before taking his leave. As someone that doesn't know how much (or how little) time you have left, I can completely understand the need to step back for a bit.
Let's hope that he's able to find a happy medium in there, as the DoS products are all top-notch.

Well this sucks, i have spent countless hours researching and deciding what intake to buy and i'm ready to start throwing my money at DOS and the guy is MIA and the website is up but not taking orders.
It really is unfortunate. I wonder how long until his domain name expires? That will be an indication that he's not coming back.
I doubt he made enough off of DoS to retire to the Caribbean, and if he was throwing in the towel I'd think the site would have gone down a few months ago. Very unusual.

I'm pretty sure he was in the medical field to some degree. Designed instruments or something. DOS wasn't the primary income. He did it because he was really into the brand. That was always my take anyway. It's widely considered he shut down for "paternity leave" but it's been the longest paternity leave I've ever seen. Over 6-7 months. Nary a word on the DOS Facebook page either and that includes his personal page as well as his wife's/partner. The last thing posted by either of them was back in Sept. Around the time DOS went MIA. Very odd. I'm pretty sure they had a couple small children but they weren't newborns. I only know this because I was "friends" with him on Facebook but I don't really know him. Always seemed a standup guy in business dealings. It's a strange way to close up shop OR be on leave. A simple notification would clear up everything.
FYI, the DOS v1 can fit into the R60 with a bit of DIY effort. Not as clean as the new one but very very doable.
Be warned it seems 10x louder then an open filter in the engine bay. It was too loud for me so I added some attenuation on the intake.
Good luck and how all is well with Clint

I'll second what Kerrys914 said. It can be done. I built my own DOS V1 from the ground up (K&N Apollo, 90 degree bend pipe, etc) and mounted it in my Paceman. Fitment is excellent but it did take considerable adjustment mainly in the bulkhead area to make it fit as it should.
Selling CAI
Anyone interested in purchasing my DOS CAI (street version) thats on the car now. If i get a buyer i'll remove it and sell it. I've given the car to my niece. Bought it brand new in September 2013 for $385.00. Make me an offer if interested.
Thanks.
Thanks.
