So my 04 MC was victim of a hit and run Friday night

Came outside at about 9:30PM and saw this damage to my Mini. Eventually tracked it back to the pizza delivery guy. Currently sorting out all the insurance crap

THAT is a Bummer! Sorry for your loss.

Hope you get it sorted out pronto (and don't have to look at that cavern for too long)!

Sorry to hear about that, but on the plus side, it looks like the damage is pretty much isolated to the door panel and the sill. And judging from the damage to the door panel, I don't think they'll even attempt to repair it - you'll just get a new outer skin (or possibly an entire new door). Either way, you'll be good as new and back on the road in no time!

Anyways thanks for the messages. Here's pretty much what happened (copied from another board)

Last night I went out to my car around 930 to head uptown (drinking, parties whatnot) and I saw a shadow cast on my passenger door. I did that whole "Oh hell" scenario in my head and when I got up close I just about **** myself.

Passenger door caved in. I live on a quiet, suburban street away from main campus so their isn't that much traffic. At first I thought my roommate backed out of the driveway and hit me, but we got to thinking and realized a pizza guy came to our house around 8PM.

My roommate and I drove up to Papa Johns and began looking at their cars and none of them looked damaged, so we left our info with the manager and figured it was over from there

Ironically driving home we saw a Papa Johns delivery car and looked at the rear of it as it drove by, needless to say the rear right bumper was cracked and had silver paint all over it.

I called the police, they came and checked out my car, then went to PJ's on my tip and questioned the guy. Driver was driving someone elses car, hit and ran, and got a handful of tickets from the police. He called me and apologized but doesn't change the fact that my car looks like hell.

I filed the insurance claim yesterday afternoon and am just waiting for their appraiser (don't know what they are called) to come look at the damage and give an estimate. Whole insurance business sounds sketchy to me though from this first encounter with dealing with them.

We'll see what happens.

Well, I'm glad that you caught the SOB! Given that it wasn't your fault, any deductible should be waived and should not affect your insurance rates. You'll be back to normal in no time!

Good luck getting things straightened out (pun not intended, but strangely adequate).
