Car is broke... again

Well...I was driving and my car sprung a leak from the radiator area. Not sure if it is the radiator or just a hose, but my steering and acceleration are both acting weird; different. I had her towed up to Tate (yes I know, I know not a great service rep). Katie is letting me crash at her place and then taking me up to Tate in the morning so I can physically talk to them and get a loaner while they fix mine. So hopefully it is just a hose and it will be fixed within a couple of days.

So I dropped my baby off on Sunday to Tate and then I went in early Monday morning to actually talk to them. They are telling me two or three days...( I will believe it when I see it). They hooked me up with a crappy Pontiac Grand Prix. So hopefully my car will be fixed for this weekend's St. Paddy's Day Run...if not I might have to drive my Plymouth, just so I can hang out with everyone...That is if no one minds. And I would just like to thank Katie and Paul soooo very much for their patience with me and letting me crash at their place and driving me to Tate so I could get the rental. You guys are awesome and I will have to take you out to dinner or something to show you my appreciation next time I am in the Annapolis area.

Hope everything is ok.
I also have an appointment at Towson this week for the clutch issue as well.
Just hope it's not that bad.
By the way, you can park your car at my place and we can cruise together (if you don't mind riding in my slow MCS )

Hey that sounds great, as long as you don't mind having me as a passenger...but hopefully I will be able to drive MINI-Bee bc I know she loves to drive. And I hope your clutch issue works out alright for you. I will keep you informed as to how my baby is doing in the shop. PM and give me your number so I can call you later on in the week and let you know how things are going or just give me a call Wed or Thur and hopefully I will know more or possibly have my car back from Tate.

Yeah I have heard many...ummm... not so good things about Tate's service, so hopefully everything works out alright.

And I cannot stand the rental, I had one for work once and it is a complete piece of crap. But it's free so who am I to complain. Although...I would have prefered to have a MINI for a loaner but oh well, at least I am not stuck in Annapolis like I was Sunday afternoon. Thanks again Katie.

Well when I left the dealer this morning no word as to what was wrong and I didn't get a chance to call them this afternoon to see if they had figured it out. But I am going to call first thing tomorrow and see what they tell me is wrong with it. I will post as soon as I can. might not be until tomorrow afternoon after I get off work.. I don't think work would like me taking two days off in a row

Well, here is an update. Everyone knows how I hit a fox a couple of weeks ago... So Tate will NOT touch the car unless either a) I pay them $1300 for parts and labor or b) I get the insurance company involved and have them reopen the claim. Tate is telling me that all the damage was done during the accident and that this is supplemental damage that was not found when the shop fixed it. So now I am waiting for the insurance company to go down and look at the car again to determine if it is supplemental damage. The things wrong with the car are: 1) radiator is cracked, 2) raditor support is broke (which was suppposedly fixed by the last shop, and 3) motor MOUNT was cracked on the bottom. Although, I am not sure how me hitting a fox can crack the mount but hey I am not a mechanic :impatient So now I am waiting for the insurance company to call me back.

It's not hitting the fox that caused the engine mount crack, it's the big torque that your engine made on Sunday......

I don't have a clue but it did. Once the insurance pays Tate it will bring my grand total to $3200. I am still waiting for the insurance guy to look at the car, he is supposedly going to the dealer tomorrow morning to look at it. So hopefully everything will go good and the car will be fixed soon.

Update on MINI_Bee...

Well, here is an update to how things are going. I have wanted to hurt people with my insurance company for taking their sweet *** time getting to the dealer to look at the car, but they finally did. My insurance is covering all the work that needs to be done. And one of the other motor mounts is starting to leak so Tate is fixing that under warranty. Tate is also picking up the tab on the rental car from Monday until tomorrow, when the insurance starts picking up the rental car portion. So... so far so good. Everything is being fixed and I am not going to have to pay for anything!!!!! I might have to pay a couple dollars to enterprise to cover the rest of the cost over the $25 a day insurance covers. Tate is saying that should have the car done by early next week, and MAYBE, just maybe Saturday but that would be stretching it. Fingers crossed.

Well, I finally got my car back today!!!!!!!!!! Tate was actually very nice and cordial towards me and my insurance company. Jan was very good about returning my phone calls or calling me when he said he would. So far (fingers crossed) everything is in good shape. I checked over everything they replaced from the accident along with the other motor mount and wiper blade and everything looks good (and shiny ). I know how a lot of people feel about Tate and the service dept. but I honestly have to say that they treated me very good and I do not have any complaints about them. However I do have a lot of complaints about my insurance company and the shop that did the work to begin with but that's a whole other story. Tate started working on the car Friday, the day after the insurance guy looked at the car and they had it done by 2 pm today, which is the time frame they told me it would take to get the car done. Maybe Katie and her car problems lit a fire under someone's *** about Tate because they seem to be a little better now. The one downfall I saw against Tate is that they only have 2 people working in the shop itself.

I will be there Saturday for the breakfast at MoS and I will be in Arlington for coffeee on Thursday. So I will be running around all over the place, but I would love to do the St. Paddy's Day run again.
