First Day Out

A few snaps from our first day out. This is the first event I've done in 20 years, and have more rust than the Titanic to shake loose. This was Becky's first ever event, so we both ran in Novice. Also running on the stock run-flats which were squealing in delight through most of the course!

My best time was a 1.05, and Becky's was a 1.13. Very proud of her.

That looks like Castle. Fresno Region event? If you are going to run there regularly I would strongly suggest a dedicated set of autox tires. The surface is pretty abrasive.

When the money allows..... which it doesn't right now.

We're just going to use this year to get into the flow. Won't even make every event because of funds and such.

And yes you're right, it was at castle.

I'm glad to see you had fun.

Sorry we didn't hang around, but hunger called. What time did you finish up and get out of there?

It was hard to remember the ice chest at 5am.

Will have it in 2-weeks though.

That's why you remember it at 8pm the night before, and sitting by the door waiting to be loaded up!

They are a little slow on updates so it could be several weeks before event #1 results get posted.

There was one other Mini in Novice, an MCS but I don't know how he did.

I wish they kept a tally board.

I think Fresno and Sacramento need to get their results posted on the SFR main site too.

3. 1.05.097 DNF Started on the wrong side of the back slalom.
4. 1.05.181

Becky:

My times:

1:05.155 DNF - missed the one-cone slalom and slowed down to look.
1:01.906
1:01.499
1:02.195 - almost spun-out on the last cone of the finish slalom.

We only got 4 out of 5 runs because of the crowd. One more run would have been nice since my last run would have been my best had I not come in too hot on the last two cones of the slalom.

Considering I'm still bone stock on run-flats (and personally weigh more than any of you guys), I'm not feeling too bad about my times!
