Solo 2006 Factory built JCW!!!
2006 Factory built JCW!!!
Just thought I'd mention that motoringfile.com announced yesterday that the 2006 MCS will be available from the factory with the FULL JCW motor kit begining with 10/05 production, with 210 HP!!! It seems to be part of a package requiring the Sport brake kit, the limited slip and a new 16" wheel (the Bridge Spoke)) or a 17.
There is some good discussion on SCCA forums, in the Stock forum. I will probably get one of these, though I will greatly miss my EB/W MCS and have some fear, that even though it meets all the requirements of an STX car, that it will not be allowed to run in STX. If that is the case I would probably run in SP, even though Courtney (my co-driver) doesn't think it has much of a chance on a national level even in DSP, if it gets classed there.
Clearly a 2006 JCW MCS will be better than my current MCS and would pretty much render all earlier MCS to a lower level if it ran in the same classes but with the exception of stock class, I think that's what should happen. I see it as a D/S car with all earlier MCS's in G/S. As far as STX goes Subaru WRX's are putting 250 hp to the wheels and can use that power, how much of that 210 hp of the JCW can we get to the ground most of the time with front wheel drive and being stuck with skinny tires.
Maybe the answer is to allow boost mod's in STX and allow non boosted cars wider wheels or to be reclassed down to STS or something. It's pretty hard to enforce some of the boost mod's anyway and the **** (Street Prepared Advisory Committee) is considering changes in that area now.
Should earlier JCW cars be allowed to run in whatever class the factory JCW runs in? If yes, how is that justified by the rules? Should update/back date be returned to the rules. This (UD/BD) went out with the FrakinCivic in STS but in a class dominated by Honda's in Solo 2, was the FC that much better than the others?
What happens when the 2007 MCS comes out with almost the same power and it's big fat torque curve? Will there be no competitive ST class for it if the 2006 JCW isn't allowed in STX? Maybe that's what will get the JCW in the class after a year's delay???

I'm waiting anxiously to see where the full JCW kit MCS is classed. I will probably keep the GS car for the near future but would definately look to get a JCW down the road if it is paced in a stock class where it can be somewhat competitive. Is Vince on here Richard? I'd love to hear what he thinks.
With all the talk about Mini classing on sccaforums I can't wait to see what happens if the JCW car gets placed into DS. I can't Imagine the car will end up in DS. Maybe BS? And will it be STX legal or specifically exluded? So many questions.

If it is included in the STX class, that pretty much crushes my plans of going to STX next season. I think I'll probably have to wait it out before plunking down 6-8K on mods.
If the 06 model does end up in DS, I would think it would be the car to have for that class IMO.
As far as DSP, I REALLY would like to dabble a bit there with a MCS, I think on some courses it would hang, and, I definitely think it could trophy, but, thats not exactly where the ultimate goal stands for me. :-) In SP classes, you can update/backdate can't you? I guess that would at least make all MCS's able to compete evenly in SP class if so which would be a good option rather than dumping my 05 MCS for an 06 JCW model.
Well, hopefully in the end, the MCS's will have somewhere competitive to play next season.
