Solo Newb

This question is inherently ridiculous, please excuse my ignorance.

I'm running my first solo on Sunday in south Bend. Driving my stock GP. What rev threshold should I observe? I know the tach redlines at 6500, but what is the realistic number to avoid damaging my daily driver.

I'm not serious about competing as yet. I'm just out to have fun and get a feel for the idea of dropping loads of money on this sport.

Honestly you can rev it to redline with no real issue. My S hit redline all the time and so does the justa. When shifting out of first you can shift about 5500-6000 rpms. And then leave it in 2nd. Chances are you probably won't get to redline

Do you not have a rev limiter to prevent damaging the engine on an upshift? You don't want to hit it though as the power will be cut long enough to make a significant difference in your time. Relax, look ahead, and have fun.

Thanks guys. I had a great time today at Tire Rack Starting Line in South Bend. Now I can see what this car can do. Loads of fun. I'll run tomorrow in the Solo event without freaking out.

I'm hooked on this in one day.

More stories please? How was the Starting Line School?

Cheers,

Charlie

Ps: Here's one of mine.

Starting Line was great. Well worth it. Got instruction from three different Pros. Learned a lot. I certainly gained some confidence and I'm looking forward to some solo events this season. The only times I intend to beat are my own.
