2005 MCS with manual transmission will have 170hp, lower gears, and an available limited
slip differential. Any bets on how long until it's bumped back to G-stock ?

Wonder if the 2002-2004 MCS could stay in G-Stock, and the 2005+ go to D-stock.

Those changes can be a really big deal for autocross, so I'd be suprised if they left the S in GS. They might split it up by year and leave the current S's in GS, just as they've done with the S2000 which is now in BS and AS.

But anyhow, these types of changes are usually good for any car, so the '05 sounds like it'll be fun.

That would be my guess. LSD is the clincher for the 05+ to go to DS

The M3 or Corvettes can be in SS, AS or BS depending on year, so hopefully the
SCCA classes each year's cars according to their capability and doesn't bump up
a 2002 MCS because a 2005 MCS is faster.

What was the change to the S2000 that caused the different classing based on model year?

It should DEFINITELY be D Stock, I have no doubt I would have been in the top 5 at Nationals in 2002 IF I had an LSD. It's easily a two second loss on a 60 second course to not have one.

As for whether they'd move the current car, I doubt it. We'll find out soon enough...

And, the S2000 also got bigger wheels...

Sooo who's going to be the DStock moderator? I am seriously considering selling the HStocker and going DS. I want the new R*Speed MCS exhaust anyway. My Cooper will be on the market as soon as I get a deployment date to Iraq.

I doubt SCCA would split off cars in the same year even though the LSD option will not be available factory installed in early 2005 builds before January. I would guess that all 2005 S's will go to DS and all previous years will stay in GS for the 2005 season.

We ordered an S a month ago which was estimated by the dealer to be a Jan. 2005 build. I asked him to make sure the LSD is available or let the order slide until it is.

I really want to order an 05 MCS w/LSD.

What are the thoughts about the 05 MCS being competitive in D-stock against an AWD WRX?

I think it's the FWD Integra Type-R and the RWD BMW 330 that you really need to worry about.

I think the new Cooper S will be a real scrapper. The Integra Type-R is a truly sublime car, but I think the Cooper S with the LSD will give it a run for the money.

don't forget about the dodge,, it's won the last two tour events,,, will be fun to see how the new MINI S does against the D stock guys,,, just hope they leave the 02, 03 and 04's in G stock,, if not the toyota's will have no one to play with

Just a comment: the SRT4 did NOT win the two last Nationals, Mark Daddio did!!

In other words: the car is probably just average for autox, but the driver is a legend.

Dave,

Did they say how much the LSD option is going to be?
