2008 stock classes

With all the talk about moving the MINI's around to different classes, does anyone know when the new classes for 2008 will be finalized and published?

The decision will be made sometime after the National Championship at the end of this month, largely based on what happens in GS vs DS and results within GS(The lone Sentra vs Mini vs DS times). I'd expect final decisions to be made in the Nov/Dec fastracks at SCCA.com, although, I suppose it may take longer.

The proposal on the table, is moving all the B and G stock Mini's into D Stock.

For myself, I hope so.

The GS folks are against it. BS has to be moved though. The 06 JCW can't compete with the RX8's and 350z's.

I would guess that it won't happen, although, thats just a guess from the very few events we have had lately in the R56. Also, as well as the R56, there is still some development left in the ITR that will be unveiled at nats. :-) The MCS is simply a full step behind the ITR IMHO on 50% of the courses, on the other 50% of courses, the MCS is close. With that said though, if GS has 2 favorable courses at Nats, it could go either way, but, throw in a bunch of sweepers and the ITR will eat us for lunch with their camber and superior LSD.

With the above said though, this is just my opinion, it could go either way, and, there simply isn't enough good solid data yet on the 07 MCS to compare to DS. However, I do feel the pain of the BS JCW MCS's, that is definitely an unfair classing only due to the SCCA not wanting the Mini to be competitive in 3 stock classes. I wouldn't mind it being moved down to GS, but, that will probably never happen.

Well, everyone has to send their letters in to SCCA, and voice their opinion.

The ITR suffers from a limited wheel width compared to the MCS and is easily caught out of it's power band on some curves.

I couple good friends of mine run ITR's at Topeka and nationals in DS, Bruno and Carl from Montreal .i would love to see a mini own them :P
