Grand Am has given us two performance concessions that will be ready for New Jersey.
1) 18 Gallons of fuel . . . up from the prior limit of 17. This extra gallon will require only one stop in a 2.5 hour race where we needed two stops before. ALL three cars needed a late 'splash' at Miami hurting our finishes. We will be able to run over 1:15 for the 1st time ever!
2) RMW Header . . . Revolution Mini Works makes a custom header that improves the torque of the R53. The low torque of the Supercharged motor has been a handicap at tracks with very slow corners or elevation changes. This should help the cause considerably.
Thanks Grand Am !

Wow that's great news Randy. Not having to make that extra stop is huge..
The RMW race header is a great piece. Should really give you guys that TQ you have been missing.
I can't wait to see how you guys do in NJ. Good luck and give them hell.

Here is a press release discussing the track improvements.

Last year they threw TWO 'visability' caution flags because the dust was so severe you could not see on the track. They planted grass but it never grew in because of a spring drought. What grass was there, was trampled and torn up on the 1st day.
In addition to new grass they also installed new curbing and changed the pit entry and exit.
It is MUCH improved. . . looking forward to it.

TV coverage for New Jersey

Early notice for setting your DVR's.
NJ is a combined race with the ST and GS classes run together. It was an exciting race last year where the #196 car placed 5th and the #197 was 13th in class.

Its exciting to see how the cars are significantly faster this year. I hope RSRs hard work will be rewarded with excellent finishes.
Is the #197 car going to race?
197 will race
The 197 had a throw-out bearing failure during the 1st morning session. It requires an engine removal to fix.
The Throw-out bearing is part of the clutch.
It is fixed but we were about 20 minutes late for qualifying. The 197 WILL start at the back of the pack.

The 198 had the 5th fastest ST lap, so not bad at all there. The results, if reading them correctly, are the least productive in memory with all 3 finishing, but 11, 25 and 40 laps back. Looks like a MINI-friendly track and the weather was in the 60's, so not hot... One yellow flag, so I'm guessing the rain, if any, was minimal. Bean, I agree, we need the scoop from Randy...
Dang, those Civics are impressive once again though (1st, 2nd & 3rd). Four qualified in the top five...
Hope RSR will make their first appearance at Laguna Seca!

Went to NJ today, the race results do not show how well Randy was doing before mechanical problems took him out. Leading in the early laps of the race and involved in a close bumper to bumper 3 way battle for the lead before traffic slit them up. Showed well and he is knocking at the door. Kudos to the RSR gang.
