Also I think the three Mini are one of the loudest cars out there. I could hear you guys coming but then again I'm listening for a Mini engine anyway.
But yep looked really good out there.

Fantastic race guys!!! The RSR Minis RACED their way to a great finish and the lap times were right there with the leaders, could easily have been a podium!!! The whole team should be proud..
Today's pictures.

Great race by the whole team. There was some family and friends of the team over in the fan zone where my Mini was. I could hear them cheering on the 196 Mini . So that was fun knowing I wasn't the only one over their cheering on the Mini's.

To me, the best drive of the day was the #198 (Burrows / Hopwood) MINI. They started the race in 4th place but had to serve a drive-thru penalty on the first lap so he basically last place on lap 2. Great drive to make it through the field and finish as high as they did.
And yes, the MINI is probably the loudest car in ST. I remember when Tony Nuzzo brought the first MINI to Barbers and his MINI sound was over the top. I spoke with one of the crew on the RSR team and he did admit that over the years they had to reduce the exhaust noise. Fear the roar of the MINI!

Barber wrap up
All in all a pretty good weekend.
196 w/ Jade Buford and Owen Trinkler = 4th place
Jade qualified and started the car. Barber is his home track and it showed. He started 16th and drove the car to 5th for the driver change at lap 41. Owen took the seat and re-entered the race in 12th. He pushed hard and ended up in 4th by lap 83 and the checkered flag. He was only a few tenths behind the 111 Subaru and would have taken a 3rd place podium if the race had gone on another lap or two.
This was Jade's best drive of the year as he showed real speed and maturity by keeping the car out of trouble and saving the tires and brakes for Owen.
198 w/ Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood = 8th place
Adam qualified the car 4th. Unfortunately, he was called for a stop and go penalty for jumping the start. It was a judgement call by Grand Am. The 2nd place qualifier in front of him checked up at the start requiring Adam to swerve out to avoid contact. The penalty put them last at lap three. He then went on a tear and drove to 6th on lap 43 for the driver change. Trevor re-joined in 12th and finished in 8th. The rear tires were corded at about lap 75 which locked him into 8th as his lap times fell off. Both Adam and Trevor had inspired drives.
197 w/ VJ Mirazyan and Randy Smalley = 12th Place
A great drive by VJ who qualified 10th and drove to 5th at lap 52 for the driver change. Randy took the car in 14th and eventually drove to 12th. There was a problem with the intercooler in the 197 causing very high inlet temps and a big drop in HP. Supercharged engines do not like high inlet temps and the ECU responds by retarding timing and adding fuel.
Thanks for the great fan turn out. I think this was the highest turnout of Mini owners this year. Your support is appreciated.
Next stop is Trois Rivieres (3R) in Canada. This is a street race and Mini friendly.
BARBER WILL BE TELEVISED SATURDAY JULY 25 at NOON Eastern on Speed
Speed filmed all three pit stops and interviewed 4 of our drivers. This race will have great Mini coverage.

Its a thrill to see RSR do well. I can't wait to see the race coverage.
Trois Rivieres Aug 14-16 2009
Opening a thread for (3R) Trois Rivieres, Quebec Aug 14-16
Gran Prix Du Trois Rivieres (Three Rivers) is a split class, non televised race. The ST class races on Saturday. 3R is a street course and is located in a city park in conjunction with a Horse track. The town really gets behind the event by closing the downtown area and throwing a real street party.
All three cars will be there. The Minis are good at 3R and we have had some success there, finishing 7th in 2007. However, 2008, last year was a disaster as we were throwing supercharger belts all weekend. That problem has been repaired and we look forward to a good weekend.
Line up:
196 Jade Buford and Owen Trinkler
197 Randy Smalley and Joe Toussaint(?)
198 Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood.
Alain Lauzeire of Octane Motorsports (aka J Propane) will be there racing in the Canadian Touring Championships (maybe his new car will be there??).
If you like Racing Minis . . . this is the place to be.
