OS Giken Super Lock Limited Slip Differentials are now standard equipment on the R53 Grand Am Minis and the R56 Mini Challenge racer.

The team switched to the OS Giken Super Lock at the end of last season when we installed it in the #197 at the VIR race. We had been experiencing problems with 'throttle on' understeer with our former 'brand x' setup. We had run out of adjustments.

We heard good things about the Super Lock diff from fellow racer and NAM member, Ian Stewart so we tried it and it worked. Owen Trinkler immediately went out and won the VIR pole AND set fast lap in the car. When a car accelerates from the apex at mid corner and then starts to run wide, this is known as ''throttle on' understeer. It is caused by front wheel spin. It is a common problem with front wheel drive cars and gets worse as power increases.

As we have increased our power output, we have experienced this problem. The Super Lock helped us overcome it by better controlling the spin. The diff is more responsive and adjustable than the competitors and has many more tuning opportunities. We will be working with the OS Giken team to fine tune the settings for Mini's, creating a better product for their customers.

We like and recommend the OS Giken product. We have used all three of the major brands and find the Super Lock to be the best by far. It will make your car more responsive and ultimately, faster.
